As we all know during these slightly bizarre times, used car values have gone crazy. I’m potentially looking at taking advantage of changing my car as the cost to change for me seems rational from my current situation.

As the title suggests, are Wbac pretty much unbeatable with Car valuations or are Car dealers willing to match or beat Wbac prices for potential stock in a part exchange situation?

I would like to hear from people who have recent experience or anyone who works in the trade.

Just got rid of my Volvo a few weeks ago.

WBAC were offering me just over £9k as described but I’d be expecting to be knocked down a little further.

Used the manufacturer online valuation tool (Peugeot) which was sent to the dealer and was honoured without any fuss or bother for £8700.

A year ago WBAC were offering just over £7k for it by way of comparison.

I certainly wouldn't say WBAC are uneatable. Evans Halshaw paid c£2k more for mine earlier on this year.

Use all the online tools to get the best price and ask the dealer you're buying from to match it. I suspect in lots of cases they'll get close enough for it to be the best option.

They are pretty much unbeatable at the moment, offering way over trade to keep their Cinch business ticking over (direct sales). In the past they were buying to feed BCA who were supplying trade.

Unless your getting a stock car you might find px price will be lower as the dealer will want to protect themselves in case the value drops by the time the car lands

I know this as Ford have offered us £1,300 less as the nee car wouldn’t be built until Feb/March next year and they told me this

Which is logical, but you can only directly compare offers to buy now. Are Ford giving a decent discount on the new car if not wbac + carwow

Not at all. Remember, every trader is different. Some will try and take the piss and assume you are not aware of the value of your car. Two of the garages I went to recently asked what I had been offered on my part ex and I told them what WBAC offered me. One even offered £100 more than WBAC. This was on a car I bought recently in June.

One thing to factor in is that the price you get with WBAC is likely to be much lower if you have anything other than an absolutely mint car.

Four scraped alloys take off about £400-500, stone chips on the bonnet could be £200 etc.

Dealer is likely to be less bothered.

Mini gave me £14250 a few months back for our F54, WBAC we’re showing £14750 but as soon as I added a few stone chips and all four alloys having a mark it suddenly dropped well below £14k so I just did the dealer which had a quick look round and said fine, money in my bank the next day.

Dealers taking piss on that basis. Especially if pricing it as a part exchange against a car they are selling at retail.

WBAC have been offering 2k more for my Golf GTI TCR compared to Evans Halshaw/Motorway etc...

I guess it could be car dependant.

I got an extra £1000 buying a new car when part exing mine to upgrade, which made it about £5-700 more than wbac on a £4K car which I didn’t think was bad

They often mix the numbers to suit when you part ex so it's difficult to know.

I just got £1600 more than WBAC were offering by part ex-ing.

The dealer I'm buying from admittedly found a trade buyer rather than taking it in themselves, but still a decent difference.

Money4yourmotors was also making a strong offer, they're owned by Manheim.

Mate of mine is trading in a 64-reg Mazda 3 <something> for a Ford Puma. Ford dealer is giving him £6500 for a trade-in, and so he checked out the opposition, WBAC offered £5250. So therefore, I had presumed that effectively the dealer is giving a £1K discount on the Puma...

Don't hesitate to send your car to WBAC.

Got a quote online.

Took it down there and they offered me more.

One thing I will say is fill in the detailed form accurately for a realistic quote before you visit.

Ford have a promo on at the moment which is £1k dealer contribution, so that will be the difference.

I'm in the trade - it very much depends on the car, the dealer and what car you're buying off them

Get a valuation off the internet then call around / visit the garages that have cars you want

I've moved into Bikes recently and I paid £1600 for a bike webuyanybike offered £600 for !

I spoke to the local webuyanycar place. Put in a provisional quote, he was quite happy with the car and description. Only wanted to knock off a little bit of money for a kerbed alloy wheel. Can’t sell it yet as I need a replacement first.

Was very honest and helpful. I think they appreciate it when you actually fill out the damage form honestly (stone chips etc) and also gives them less chance to lower your expectations about the value you will get.

That’s what makes me apprehensive about going for a part exchange. I’m quite happy with the price I’d get from WeBuyAnyCar but would be annoyed if I could have got more or used it to get a better deal on a replacement vehicle.
