Car Lease - No delivery details
Discussion
Morning all
So I ordered a lease car back in June from Nationwide Vehicle contracts, expecting the order to go through, paperwork signed off then a build assigned to track delivery. This is how all other lease cars have worked, As yet, now in Sept, I have no idea when this car is due to arrive.
I have pushed the company on man occasion, I keep getting back that they have asked a dealer for an update, but nothing. now I dont even want exact day, even month or year of delivery would be good.
I need to plan it as we need to travel over to NI to collect the car. Anyone else having similar issues, is this a Brexit / covid issue this year, or am I just being screwed. I dont think Im asking much to get an aprox delivery month. We have our own car that needs to be sold etc too, so a little heads up would be great
thanks
Chris

In my limited experience of these matters, leasing companies will often be intermediaries to another party - possibly a dealer group with unfilled build slots or a large fleet buyer - who achieve discounts by buying predictably and in bulk from the manufacturer or importer.
Bear in mind the latest car manufacturing situation, restricted build slots and the fact that your build will probably be low-priority. A lot of what makes leasing a cheap and / or viable proposition to the customer appears to be up in the air at the moment!

Chassis construction complete? When the seats have been installed? When the body had been painted?
I've been leasing for years, the only updates I expect are an initial order confirmation with a very rough ETA followed by "your vehicle has been built", followed by "your vehicle has arrived, when would you like delivery?" (soon after)
If you haven't heard anything, then it's obviously not yet available.

A friend of mine signed up for a lease in May 21 for a June 21 delivery. The car is still not here but the supplying dealer is keeping her up to date with the info they have, even when the info is “we haven’t had an update since last month’s”
There is a huge difference between frequently demanding further unreasonable updates in excessive detail, and what OP has asked for.
OP, I suggest you ask Nationwide for details of the supplying dealer. For my most recent lease, the broker blamed the dealer for various delays and gaps in info. When I contacted the dealer, they couldn’t have been more helpful and it was clear that the broker was the issue.

OP is not unreasonable when expecting to be given an indicative delivery month. Why is your reply so confrontational?
