Audi S4 / S5 B8 or B9 Quattro (252ps)
Discussion
Evening PH'ers.
The wife has suggested she wouldn't turn her nose up at an S4 or S5 in B8 vintage when I pushed one under her nose earlier. Similar activity has been going on some time without a bite so this is a momentous moment.
Obviously, all sort of side steps, options, pros and cons need be looked into but what's the general consensus on the B8 esses and would it make sense to consider the B9 but less cooking version? her current car is a Skoda Scout that was bought for towing after 2 x Golf R lease deals - she really enjoyed the Golf's.
Any observations?

Never owned either, so unfortunately cannot comment on suitability etc. But wasn't the B7 the 4.2 V8 339bhp and the B8 the 3.0TFSI S/C 329bhp?
The B8 S5 started off with the V8 engine with the supercharged unit being introduced at the facelift. When new there wasn't all that much difference between the B9 252PS quattro and the S5 if the former was specified with equipment the came standard on the S5 such as the technology pack and 19" wheels.
Everything you could possibly need to know and more in this thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I recently picked up a 2013 B8.5 (facelift version) Avant.
It's our only car at the moment, so does everything for us and seems like a great balance.
The B8 S4 saloons and avants were always the 3.0 supercharged engine. If you go with an s tronic, make sure it's had the oil change every 38k miles - the boxes in the facelift cars are meant to be more reliable as well.
As for a comparison with the B9, I can't comment as haven't driven one, but would expect the difference between the 3.0 TFSi and a 2.0 four pot to feel quite noticeable when doing anything other than just pottering around.
