Hi Guys,

Been looking for a car to change to for a while now, been back and forth between things like Swift Sports, Yaris T Sports and I went to see a Twingo RS 133 yesterday, gorgeous car but the exhaust the last owner had put on it was embarrassingly loud and the engine felt a bit rough.

I've come across a Suzuki Ignis Sport, bit of a marmite car but I like them, 2 friends and a cousin had them a few years back and all sung their praises. The one I've seen has got 115k miles on it, full history apparently and stacks of paperwork. I know it depends how it's been driven but are these engines generally reliable? With regular servicing etc is it likely to see a few more years of 8-10k a year or am I asking for trouble?

Always liked these, and thought they'd be a hoot to drive. Keep us updated.

I'm keen to know if you get one, as I've always fancied one but it never quite made it to the top of the list.

I think they are very cool, though seem to recall some of the sport specific bits are unobtanium / very expensive so worth checking.

I think they are great. Quite rare too.

Can't imagine you'll have many reliability problems, but might be tough to get hold of certain bits.

I wanted one, but ended up with a Yaris T Sport, I'm not disappointed though, its a cracking car.

Not mad at all. I’ve looked at these in the past and have often thought they look great fun. On reading this thread I did a quick search and found this nice red example at a garage down the road that tends to sell quite a bit of Jap stuff and imports.

Not sure if that’s a good price but you can’t get much for that money nowadays!

Extremely rare and very cool if you ask me. If I was looking for a cheap car I’d be sorely tempted.

Didn’t they share the same 1.5 engine as the Yaris?

I'd always assumed the same, since they were both 1.5 hatches at around the same time, but now I own a Yaris it seems they are not.

Besides from different manifolds and ancillary locations on the engines, the compression ratio, rev limit and peak power are all different. I'd imagine they perform in a similar way though.

Biggest surprise with these little cars is how quick they actually are, lightness counts for a lot, and at under a ton with 100bhp, they are great on the back roads.

Cheers for the replies!

@ChrisH72 That one looks lovely fairplay, it's a black one I'm looking at but that red one is very nice.

I'm not seeing it until Sunday so I'll keep you posted if I get it thumbup
