Probably much of a muchness I know but I can pretty much get an M140i for £500 more than my TT is worth. Cazoo are extremely generous!

Really fancy the M140i but I feel it's more a 'bank job' type of car. The TT is pretty much as quick but lacks that '6' engine- but to my eyes the plus is that it's less of a target as space-wise it's far more compromised.

Am I right or am I looking too much into it?

I would agree,so you could consider a M240? I've added additional security to my M2..

Looking into this way too much! Cars being stolen has and will always happen.

Do you even know anyone who actually had their car stolen or even on your street?

If you want the car just get it.

To answer your original question yes. If thieves are after a car to commit more crime in, they generally want a fast 4 door car that blends in with its lesser siblings. That is why the Golf R us such a huge theft magnet.

You can get the M140 as three door but tbh just get one the percentage is low & something as simple as a steering lock is off putting for a lot of theives.

The 2 series is a decent shout but I don't like the shape- I just prefer the hatch.

I'm just dying to buy the thing!

Seems like buying a three-door M140i is the obvious answer.

This. You are over thinking it. From threads on here you would think Golf R's get stolen the second they are outside etc etc. Its not reality when extrapolated out to the real world. Buy what you like, insure it and be done with it and if it gets stolen then deal with it.

My other half was car jacked in her M135i a few years ago, it was found burned out about a month later.
She wasn't badly hurt but a traumatic experience, and put us off having another similar car.
We replaced it with a TT and no issues after 3.5 years. Not exactly scientific, but think the druggy thief brigade would rather a 4 seat hot hatch to a small coupe with 2 use able seats.

My other half actually convinced me to keep the TT.

Gave it a wash and vac and actually thought what a bloody good motor it was.

Quattro, very quick and actually quite fuel efficient. If I need it to be quicker I suppose a remap would help.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a TT. Where have they all gone?

I'm not so sure about the M140i but I've never felt so nervous as when I had to look after an RS3 for a week. I was paranoid about it!
