In the market for a car between 15-20k and since I’ve had the piece of mind of new cars with warranty for the past 6 years, I find it difficult to pay that much for a car without the piece of mind.

For example, I’m thinking Golf R/Civic Type R fk2/S3 and no main dealer sells them. Only BMW sell 2013/14 year cars.

Anybody know why? Are they more confident in their cars, BMW even sell E92 M3’s with 60k miles and Z4M’s for not a lot of money in the current climate and the approved used warranty is a big plus!

There are a few M235i and M135i’s for sale and reasonably priced but I want something different as I sold my M4 recently

With your budget if you want a hot hatch you can buy an approved used which gives you a years warranty that can then be extended, as a sidebar if you want a cracking hot hatch take a look at the 308 GTI:

There were some S3's and Golf R's for sale at dealers before the price rises but those £17-18k cars are now £20k+.

Completely agree on the concept of getting AUC for a £15-20k car, I do the same as the warranty is unbeatable and with BMW at least, you can extend it for a suitable price assuming its <60k miles.

We bought a 330D in 2020 for £18k from BMW, its had 12k miles smashed on it since then and WBAC are offering £19500 for it now so the used market is still fairly strong and its pushed the £15-20k cars up into the £20-25k band.

Before the price rises, you could get a decent spec M135i with 40k on the clock for under £15k but not a chance these days, unless its categorised maybe.

Thank you everyone, I’m going to wait it out for prices to drop or look out for private sellers who have extended warranties
