Anyone here run a new model XC60? We’re considering one to replace our now 7 year old Evoque.
After advice on reliability, quality of dealer network etc as well as what they are like to own.
Ideally we’d want a hybrid engine – my wife has a 12 mile each way commute so the electric only would be perfect for that part each day switching to petrol for longer journeys.
I see Volvo have 2 hybrids – a full hybrid and a mild hybrid – I assume the mild hybrid is only electric assist without the option to run on pure battery?
In terms of engine choice is there a pick of the bunch? Ideally petrol rather than diesel.
Spec wise, whats considered essential or very nice to have?
I know times are weird for pricing but are discounts likely on new cars?

I've got a mild hybrid v60, it just boosts the engine and makes no real difference to everyday driving although start/stop is almost indiscernible (250 bhp petrol). I suggest you check the Volvo forum here as spec levels seem to change daily based on part availability issues!

Bought a Mild Hybrid B5 R-Design a few months ago - the deals then were a lot better than they are today - done just over 4K miles, absolutely no complaints, its the 3rd new Volvo I've bought, and have no issues with the dealer network, and both previous Volvo's which I still have (in family) have had no reliability issues - other than normal servicing, my V50 is coming up to 230k miles (just over 9 years old) - though this has been serviced outside the dealer network since the warranty expired.

We have averaged 36mpg - which for a 2 ton petrol brick, I think is quite reasonable, thats 50% long journeys and 50% shorter town ones.

I know someone very well who has the mild hybrid and loves it, they are tempted to get the full hybrid next or go electric. They went from Volvos to Audi and have now gone back to Volvo, much prefer the interiors and ride of the Volvos

There are discounts available on new vehicles - see Volvo's own page as a starter

When we bought a few months ago, the discounts were much better, £4K on the finance contribution and nearly £4K on the dealer contribution, on top of that I got a significant further discount for being a serial Volvo purchaser and a decent trade in - happy days!

Although not quite the same, I’ve had the previous model XC60 D5 (66 plate) couldn’t fault it at all, it was reliable and the most comfortable car I’ve owned.

I now have a 2021 (70) Volvo XC40 B5 mild hybrid, no issues other than 2 recalls, comfortable, well put together. It is a thirsty car around town, I avg 25mpg around London which is 95% of my driving. On a long run it’s a more like 35mpg. So the XC60 mild hybrid may be worse based on your driving, so full electric could be an option.
