On the first note – I’m not from UK, so unfortunately I can’t buy sth like an elise for good money and prices differ, so the following cars are the ones within (and slightly over) my budget. I had a NA miata with coils, sways, brakes and LSD and I enjoyed the heck out with it. It’s gone now and I’m thinking what to buy next. I’m gonna go to a trackday for sure, but not as much as I did with a miata. I sold it because I wanted more power and to try a different driving experience.

I’ve seen s2000 – but it’s too small inside (I’m 6’4 and 250lbs), headroom was fine but when I closed the door my leg was jammed between a steering wheel and a door panel + from what I hear it’s not too good for some sideways action, which for me currently is the most fun thing to do with a car.

I’ve seen Boxster S 986 and I wanted to buy it but the owner sold the car despite reassuring me that he’ll notify me If anyone comes to see it. I loved the dynamics of the chassis and the engine sound. Now some time has passed and I have some concerns regarding the repair bills and in my area people would talk that I’m a young guy driving a Porsche, which would be annoying for me.

As of today, on Friday I’m going to mechanic with the 135i e82 2011 MT, it’s n55 with MHD tune, IC, DP and stiffer shocks. It’s the fastest car by far and it seems to be in very good condition, but that will be checked on Friday. I’d probably thrown in m3 control arms and maybe LSD if I decided to spend that extra $. Even with the open diff with that much power it’ll have no problem drifting and it’ll be huge fun to do pulls and to go on a trip somewhere with my gf. All that said I’m wondering if it’s sporty enough to satisfy the petrolhead in me.

Other cars include 350z, 130i e87, toybaru.
I’ve never driven any of the last 3 cars. In my country 350z is similar money to 135i, but the interior makes me wanna vomit and it’s almost 10 years older than e82 so more parts will need changing, plus it’s very thirsty. On the other hand it has sweet sound and LSD.

130i is just a classic BMW NA inline 6, MT it would probably be more reliable than 135i and I could use more of its power more of a time, but on the other hand I’m thinking that after some time I’d be thinking about that 135i.

GT86/BRZ it has superb handling, lsd, it’s relatively fresh, but I feel like it would be very similar driving experience to a miata, so I might get bored quickly.

Maybe some of you will help me realise what I really want or maybe some of you where in similar position, either way feel free to speak your mind.
Cheers

What is your use case? Fast road? Track? Etc

With a few suspension mods I enjoy my 3.0 manual Z4 (e85) for fast road, yes its heavy, but its got a lively rear axle and is comfortable for cruising etc when needed.

Straight 6 too, so nice sound with some exhaust changes.

Fast road and occassional track, like 2-3 times a year. I was thinking about a z4, I must take one for a spin.

That's the same use case as me.

I don't know where you are, but in the UK z4's are great value for money considering the power you get, the good looks and the fact its a good every day car too.

I'm from Poland. As for now I'm leaning towards a 135i, it'll be a different driving experience to a miata, If I am disappointed with the handling I'll thrown in some m3 control arms or just sell the car and buy a BRZ rolleyes

Just budget to put the control arms on smile the 135i is a good option.

I went from a Mk1 MX5 to a 3.0 Z4 as like you I'm tall and ulitmately wanted some more comfort.
I've had the Z4 slightly lowered, polybushed and new shocks and it handles pretty nicely. Cheap to run as well

I bought the 135i, it's been almost 2 weeks since I bought it, it has some small foibles but generally it's in very nice condition biggrin
