10kish for fun family car or towing vehicle. Advice please
Discussion
Ok so shedding isn't for me, the mundane family car life will not break me so my thoughts are as follows:
Option 1 - Fun family car that can also be enjoyable to drive. 320d estate etc.
Option 2 - Big comfy SUV that's reliable and can tow a track car like a Touraeg etc.
My list of requirements are 5 seats, isofix, sub 10 second 0-60 and atleast 30mpg average, 100k or less millage.
I like unusual cars and outside of the box suggestions like a few of my previous cars such as -
C4 Coupe VTS
Aerodeck Vti
Saab 93 Aero
Accord Type S
Prelude
Volvo 850t
Mondy 2.5t
Any suggestions are welcome, cheers.

Go for option 2 it'll be the better car & if you go for my suggestion you & you're family will appreciate the quality (a 320d won't get close) & they have the added bonus of being ULEZ/CAZ compliant too

If you’re open to out of the box options…my recent family car acquisition - for around half your budget - was a 2006 Audi A6 Avant 4.2 V8 Quattro with 88k miles. It seems to cover both Option 1 and Option 2 parameters, so could work for you - especially in 3.0 TDI or 2.0 TFSI Quattro form.Option 1 - Fun family car that can also be enjoyable to drive. 320d estate etc.
Option 2 - Big comfy SUV that's reliable and can tow a track car like a Touraeg etc.

To me it covers the satisfying drive side of things with a potent, sweet sounding engine and the traction to use it and it is big, comfy, has a larger boot than most SUVs for the money, plus a proper all-wheel-drive system and - I think - a 2,100kg towing capacity. I’m just going to ignore the 30mpg element for now…
You get five seats, three sets of Isofix points, a 6.2-second 0-62mph time and plenty of space. The downsides are fuel economy and potentially reliability, but the initial price is low enough to put some money into a maintenance account…or you could simply go for one of the more sensible engine options.
I see you had a 2.5T Mondeo previously; this topped my family car tick box list, covering the bases better than anything else - and for a lower price. Just felt too mundane - especially after two five-pot Volvos - so I get your desire for something out of the box!
