It’s going to need new driveshafts, new anti-roll bar drop links and rear pads and discs and possibly a calliper over the next year.

Ask them if they’ve already repaired any of these? And then bid them considering that’s probably ~£400

It's very hard to pass comment without knowing the type of car, cost, etc.

You could put the details into click mechanic and see if you can get a quote.

Or if unsure, why not get a pre purchase inspection?

Thank you, what is the cost of all of that do you think?

Thanks for your reply also, it’s a Peugeot 206 and it’s £1,200 and an 08 plate.

As it’s an automatic and in my budget and has a years MOT I thought it might be a good buy.

Personally, at that budget I'd be looking for a simple car with as little as possible that could break. That would rule out anything such as this with a folding roof.

My choice would be a fiesta, possibly a Corsa, lots about, more choice, cheapish to fix.

If you are looking at MOT histories then don't get too concerned with consumables such as tyres, brakes, bulbs. But if there is a lot of consumables then it can indicate a car that has not been looked after.

Most cars in this price range will have a fault or three. Which is often why the last owner will have sold it. I'd want a long MOT.

If you are unsure, do look at the link above for an inspection. May not be worth it at this price point, although it could give you some piece of mind. Or take someone with you when looking.
