Last time I enquired, trade insurance had gone through the roof, something in the region of £2000 I was quoted for part time/low volume.

Try onesureinsurance

I've been with them part time (as repairer and trader) for a number of years, I wouldn't want to make a claim (I've been on hold with them for as long as an hour to make policy changes) but they are cheap.

It's more pricey now than I'd like; £1500 for me fully comp at 30, all vehicles covered including sports and performance, bikes too (I really must do my Direct access and immediately buy a Husabusa, lol), although I have 4 years NCB and live in sleepy Gloucestershire.

Although when I started I was 25 and living in South London and still never paid more than 2k. Iirc, they converted my full personal NCB to 2 years trade, so that might be an option but don't bank on it.

I did this last year, policy cost £700 excluding sports and high performance. However its been a ball ache buying anything of value in current trading climate, about 5% of normal stock levels going through auction and with WBAC ramping up prices as they move to direct sales its a very challenging environment.
