Specifically talking about the new shape from 2019 onwards and the 1.5 EcoBlue diesel engine.

I've liked the look of these aesthetically since I've seen them on the road, I think they look really smart and a massive upgrade on the previous Ford ST line looks wise.

I've been looking at similar style cars, mainly the Golf GTD however I think the Ford beats the Golf in the looks department at least. I know the badge is a big issue for some and maybe rightly so but I can get a 2019 plate ST line with lower mileage than a 2016 plate GTD and for a cheaper price as well. I understand however that the Ford is likely to depreciate quicker than other manufacturers.

What I'm looking for in a car is for it to have a smart look to it (subjective I know), be economical and practical and reliable. Also for repairs and parts to be reasonably priced. I'm not that bothered about how quick it can get to 60, I'd like something that will be comfortable to drive especially on the motorway and something that has some nice tech and a nice interior.

I'd also like something economical and the focus claims to get up to 60mpg with this particular engine.

If anyone has the car can you give me your opinions on it, any pros and cons etc?

I need to take the plunge soon and find myself a new car and this is up there near the top of my list at the minute.

Are you comparing apples with apples the GTD has a 2.0d engine, in the Focus line up it would be the ST1/2/3 190 2.0d.

The newer Ford interiors are a bit drab looking but they're well equipped and comfortable. The infotainment is really simple and you get loads of kit standard that you don't with other manufacturers. The Fiesta and Focus have a bit more about them to drive than their competitors as well, even the cooking models have nice steering and are fun to hustle along in a way that say a Golf isn't.

I own the mk7 GTI so to give you a non bias opinion I actually really like the new Focus especially in metallic blue.

The Focus ticks all the boxes the only thing I'd suggest is drive the ST line as the suspension is a bit firmer so might not be your cup of tea depending how fussy you are.

It really comes down to if you prefer the car go for it. Especially as it the newer car so should be more reliable.
