Carwow is redundant in 2021
Discussion
With the high used values and good discount from drivethedeal/costa2coast/boundless I'm thinking of chipping in the wife's polo gti. I thought I'd try Carwow as well just in case on the odd chance a dealer was looking for a month end sale.
Zero discount and only one offer.
Seems like it is no longer relevant in the current climate.

I've used car wow before and had some cracking offers, however they were usually dealers looking to off load cars they'd had for a while, pre reg cars or sales needed to meet month or year end targets. Given the supply issues I suspect very few dealers are in these situations so can sEll at full price.
its almost like there is a massive shortage of parts that's greatly reducing production so dealers can sell everything they can get without discounting

OPs point though is that discounts are out there, just that Carwow doesn't seem like the place to get them anymore.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55551315
My recent order via DTD was a discount of £2500, not including the finance contribution. Best I got via Carwow was £250.
Drivethedeal are good but only a handful of brands (VAG and a couple of others) and not the full range for them all either.
Coast2Coast nowhere near competitive (actually quoting more for an EV than the list minus grant), and Boundless is CSMA (civil service) only.
Carwow was very close but ended up with a slightly better deal via a friendly dealer on the model owners facebook group. I was looking at a few alternatives too and Carwow prices were very good on those too.

give it 6 months when dealers are struggling to shift new stock, that side of carwow will pick up again.
They can't offer discounts on whats not there.
This. They can't offer discounts on whats not there.
Although equally some dealers are so determined not to give anything at all even if it means losing a sale if my experience is anything to go by, not even a set of mats or some similar token gesture to make the customer feel they got something. Fair enough if if they want to hold out but their attitude will also lose them servicing, parts and any other future opportunities to make money from me.

Well..CarWow doesn't offer discounts. All they do is offer your enquiry out and dealers bid on it. They can't offer discounts on whats not there.
DriveTheDeal seems to work differently and won't tell you the dealer (which apparently is almost always a long distance away) until you commit.
I bought wife's Tiguan via CarWow a few yrs ago - localish dealer bid a good price and I got them down a bit more too. DtD were still cheaper but someone from there rang me and was an arse. They also wanted me to wait 12 weeks - local dealer got the spec we wanted from VW inventory and the car was at the dealer a week later (they did say that was quicker then they expected).

Keep in mind that different departments couldn't care less, especially in bigger dealerships. Sales and service barely speak to each other.Sheepshanks said:

Correct Plus carwow only really works if the dealer has the car in stock, we often get people ringing us with carwow quotes where the car has been spunked out of the door for £100 profit
its usually to someone 100s of miles away who wouldnt return for service mot or give us a part exchange in most cases and oh we need to order the car which can take months.
no thanks
