Text messages from Pistonheads add

Morning All. Not quite sure if this is the right place to post this, but here we go . I have a classified add here on Pistonheads for my CX GTI Turbo and have had 3 text messages asking me to email an address with a ‘firm price’ The phone number of the text is always an odd number, most recent is +1(571) etc…..
It’s a scam of some sort I’m sure, just not sure what?

Sounds like a scam I agree. No idea of the deets though sorry.

Also, v relieved you are not selling the other CX. Love that thread. Fixed/replaced the box yet?

If you place an ad anywhere online you risk getting these sort of texts and / or calls. Just ignore them, if it looks suspicious it usually is.

Whenever I advertise anything online now I just get a spare sim card rather than using my own number.

I am working with the offshored company and I'm currently on sea challenger on the Hornsea Project. I do not have access to phones at the moment, it's days off and days on, which is why I contacted you with an internet messaging facility. Where is it located at the moment?. How many miles on it? Are you the original owner and why are you selling? Does it have any history accidentally I should be aware of? And on MOT if you don't mind my asking. I would be in talks with the courier that will handle the pick-up and delivery after payment. As regards the payment, I will be paying through a PayPal account, using PayPal instant wire transfer service, I will need your PayPal email account details. If you do not have it, you can set up a PayPal account and I will send the payment through my PayPal account, I will need the details below to proceed with the payment.

Also, hey yes, the Silver, Resto-Mod-Thing is pretty much finished. I’m so pleased with the result, is bloody epic, even if I say so myself!! Pretty much everything I was aiming for. Fast (in fact, almost comically fast in 4th and 5th gear roll ons, like being hitched to a TGV….), comfy, smooth, wonderful to drive (if you like CXs….) and so cool. I’m chuffed. Using it as often as possible. It’s a long journey kinda car, utterly wasted round here with our 20mph limits, so my C15 van does daily duties.

That is a wonderful looking thing, you have every right to be pleased with it. My favourite car on PH at the moment, alongside the JPS Esprit.
