My wife's Kia xceed lease goes back in Feb. Looking to buy something a bit different for her to use (she does about 4k pa) and for me to use for a bit of pleasure.
I am a driving instructor so anything interesting is out of the window (Toyota auris currently)
My most recent short list is...
Mercedes CLK, preferably V6
Civic type R FN2
Audi TT 3.2
E92 3 series, pref 325 upwards
Dont want a diesel, estate or SUV. Needs to be able to fit 2 under 7s in the back
And advice on those listed or alternatives greatly appreciated

With your wife only doing 4k a year I'd be looking for a CLK500 they're great cars & still qualify for the lower road tax:I am a driving instructor so anything interesting is out of the window (Toyota auris currently)

I'd never considered a CLK 500. Really do like the idea of a V8 though. Have you ever owned one?

They're pretty much bulletproof there are some things to watch out for, the front of the rear arches gets peppered with stones so that edge can start to bubble with rust but it's a simple fix & most bodyshops will take care of this for between £150-200.
When you shut the doors if you hear a rattle as it shuts it means the previous owners repeatedly used the window to shut the door rather than the handle again it's a simple fix.
Fitting a set of 35W 5-6K HID's improves the lighting no end, if there are no receipts showing the gearbox has had it's fluids & filter changed (it should be done every 40K) then look to take £300 off of the price.
The Spark plug change isn't cheap as there are 16 of them but you'll only have to do it the once.
Everything I've listed above (apart from the plug change) affects the V6's too, none of the above is overly expensive & the cars are simple to maintain.
The 500 is the pick.
