OK so it's another of those what should I get posts but I don't have a list of cars but am looking for suggestions:

I currently run a Mk4 MX5 that I love, it's my only car and this at times can cause the odd issues due to lack of space.
I am not getting rid of the MX5 but am considering buying a cheap (I know prices at the moment) 2nd car probably hatchback but I am used to the MX5 and the way it drives.

So suggestions for a small ish (no bigger than Focus possibly Fiesta sized) that can be bought fairly cheaply and not be stupid on road tax etc.

The obvious choice seems to be a Swift Sport, the older 1.6 3 door, but what else is light, fun to drive etc. It's main use will be when I need to carry more then the MX allows, possibly able to add a bike carrier that will carry an E-bike, 3 or 5 door?

Fire away, budget ideally under 3k

How about an E46 325ti Compact? Decent ones are available for £3,000 and a six-cylinder 2.5-litre engine is much nicer than a 1 Series four-cylinder engine. Sadly 130is are generally more than £3,000…
