There are plenty of those on Autotrader, and I don’t mean limited number models bought and flipped by speculators (GT3s etc).
Who buys a nice spec M3/Aston DBX/AMG and sells it after a few months with less than 1000miles?

I wouldn't be too sure that all those low mileage cars are actually genuinely low mileage! Clocking is rife in markets where value is so tightly linked to miles covered.

Someone who reckons they are into cars, but they aren't really into cars at all - they are into money.

So as a potential buyer, not much to worry about?

Rich people.

Big spenders tend to buy new, to have multiple cars, and to replace cars frequently, all of which adds up to nearly-new low mileage cars being sold.

Personally I can't imagine wanting to do that, I'd rather do as Rowan Atkinson did and have a McLaren F1 and keep it for years if I was super-rich. But having the brand new thing is important to many people.

Someone at my station has very good taste in cars and changes them every 4-6 months; often as fickle as if a new trim or engine comes out, he’ll swap. And we are talking AMG G Class as a station car…

He has a few he holds, GT3RS etc, but I doubt most of his fleet ever see an MOT station under his ownership!

I worked for a private housebuilder, his wife couldn't decide between 4 new cars so he bought all 4 and then sold 3 on

Also many cars with waiting lists can be sold for more or you can use them for 3/6/9 months and get your money back - a mate of mine did this for years

She’s not heard of test drives obviously?

It will be a bragging rights thing. It’s more hassle to buy a car than test drive one.

It's more that they had more money than they knew what to do with and were based in Shropshire, pre internet. I worked for them on my year out and they asked me if I would mind, as a favour to take one of their cars to be serviced - it was around an hour away - would I mind driving a BMW with twice the power of my car biggrin

I recall the other Director lost his dog on the nearby hills, he hired a helicopter to find it
