Have been leasing my main car for daily commute and work for the last 8 years always change my car every 2 years , currently have a 4 matic Mercedes E220 estate which has been great and got an amazing lease on it at the time costs me around £500 a month inc vat for 30,000 miles per year, it would now be double that to get the same deal !!

I have been scouring lease deals for months and eventually signed up for a Volvo V60 polestar engineered car only for Volvo to cancel the order as they have discontinued the model

so I can't help thinking the answer is to buy used, and hopefully a car that has done a big chunk of depreciation but still with a lowish mileage and that adding 60,000 wont cripple the value. need to be AWD due to where we are going to live

just trying to find the sweet spot for most car for money Plus not going to half again in value in 2 years and an additional 60,000 miles on the clock

the dream is something like these but not sure if I'm crazy to think this could make financial sense?

or am I destined to drive 2.0 diesel estates for the rest of my life !!

I have a similar conundrum

I have a Range Rover for the weekends and a R55 Cooper for work

The money I save on fuel running the R55 means it costs nothing!

if it wasn't for a child approaching 17 it would have been a more PH CooperS!

A6 Allroad BiTdi would fit the bill I’d have thought?

Absolutely.

I've "just" the 272 version - owned for two months, bought privately, and the previous owner did 25,000 - 27,000 miles between MOTs. It's worn the miles very well.

You absolutely don't need to be driving a 2.0 diesel estate, here are some nicer options

Audi A6 Avant 3.0 BiTDI Quattro Black Edition

BMW 535d Touring M Sport

Mercedes-Benz E350d AMG Line estate

Wildcard - why not something electric? Jaguar I-Pace HSE

Volvo S/V/XC90 will likely have the most comfy seats.

The car you're looking for is a Mercedes E400d the drivetrain is a peach & it'll be a very nice place to while away 60k:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110058...

Or go for an E350d All Terrain but I'd really go for the E400d

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202111049...

SUV wise the 4.2tdi Cayenne is the pick for me:

Or the X5 M50d

definitely think E400d would be a good shout in either All terrain or std estate form Other good shouts are 530d xdrive , A6 3.0tdi or maybe Macan Diesel ?

They're a very nice car & it won't be ruinous the drivetrain is well proven & I think they look good too.

My preference would be an estate...

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2021111897...

...but for an SUV how about a Toureg?

I don’t think one of these would half in value and likely more fun than a SUV imo

I'd be going 5 series, if the E class is good enough 4wd wise then the 5 series should be. Some of the XF's are awd but most are not and given thats a requirement i offer the 530d

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384583131700?hash=item5... although the 520d is probably all you need
