Toyota Landcruiser Amazon- Buying Advice and General Views
Discussion
Hi All,
Season greetings to you all.
New member on here, but have been an active reader for last few months.
I am looking to buy a Toyota Landcruiser Amazon (100 series).
Have previously owned a year 2000 4.7 V8 Amazon.
This time thinking of getting as new as possible (2005-2007) Landcruiser Amazon 4.2 Diesel.
Any advice on these?
It seems they are around £15-18k for that vintage and north of 20k for lower mileage ones. Under £10k examples are older ( pre 2004) and usually over 250k miles.
One thing I am conscious about is the "future" of diesel cars. I dont want to tie 15-20k into a car for it to fall out of favour.
Are the values of Landcruiser Amazon's"artificially"high ?
Or due to winter etc?

All second hand cars are artificially high at the moment....so may be not artificial. However, once new supplies get going again expect a correction downwards.
Personally, at the moment, I wouldn't spend £20k on a 14 year old motor.
What do you use it for??? Some helpful peeps on here might suggest something more reasonable....

100 Series Landcruisers haven't been affected too much by the recent price increases, they've always been disproportionately high.
The sweet spot is 2005, most of the facelift features, less the LED rear lights and a few other bits while avoiding the 2006 higher VED rate.
Mileage not really an issue in itself but most will be rusty and it's easy to cover it up with some waxoyl.

I don't do off roading, nor am I a farmer - so will probably never use the truck to its true potential.
Just like the way they look.
I suppose a 2005 Landcruiser Amazon will be more reliable than a 2015/16/17+ Bmw X5, Audi Q7 etc.
If you look on Autotrader there's not many low mileage diesel ones around for 10k. More like 15k+.

Also whats your thoughts on this Euro 6, clean air zones?
Will all old diesels just be forced off the roads or heavily taxed.
I just wouldn't worry about it. or buy an import and they'll be exempt. Will all old diesels just be forced off the roads or heavily taxed.
They're amazing things, hold money really really well. there's a couple of new ones near me, they're owned by 'proper' money types.
