Jeep Grand Cherokee / Commander - experiences?
Discussion
I'm looking to get a new daily driver. My requirements are:
Petrol V8
Isofix (this is surprisingly important)
Relatively low bork potential
Around £10k (not a hard limit)
Not too leggy (very subjective, I realise, I'm thinking sub-80k miles AND in decent condition)
Towing capabilities are a plus but not essential.
Anecdotal evidence both on here and from friends' experiences seems to rule out JLR and BMW products due to high probability and cost of borkage. I've had V8 Mercedes and fancy a change.
2007-2010ish Jeeps with the 5.7 hemi would appear to tick my boxes. The SRT8 is interesting but fancy Bilstein dampers may contradict the borkage point.
Firstly, a significant number of these cars have been fitted with LPG. Is LPG use likely to have caused any engine issues/accelerated wear with the Hemi? I'd hate to ignore an otherwise good car if there's no issues with LPG.
Secondly, I understand that a lot of Chrysler products of this age have suspension components made of cheese - did this apply to Jeep as well? I am not averse to replacing balljoints etc but would like to go in with eyes open.
Thirdly, I have read that the Commander attracts a lot of hate. Is that simply due to the looks and the three row seating, or is there a more objective reason?
Any other ownership points people would like to share?

At 10k you'll struggle to get a 5.7 Hemi Grand Cherokee with less than 80k on the clock for anywhere near 10k but you will get one with 100k, SRT8 wise you'll be looking at around 14k+ to get one with around 80kPetrol V8

Commanders are not as nice inside as the Grand Cherokee's they weigh a lot & drink fuel for fun.
The N/A 4.8 Porsche Gen2 Cayenne is well worth a look they do have the well documented propshaft issue but this is now a sensibly priced fix.
Use a good Indy & servicing will be sensible.
Cayenne 4.8 S 1k over budget but hit's all the other criteria

Or the other option is the Infiniti FX 5.0 they're hard to find but are a reliable V8 option:
