Due to an imminent family expansion, I am looking for a new car.

What I require is:

7 seats
Reliable
Good on fuel
£3k as an absolute maximum.

I estimate I would be doing about 10k a year on it, with a fair few trips from Yorkshire down to Oxfordshire. I plan on keeping it for a year or 2, until the car market makes a turn in my favour.

What would you recommend? I have been taken by the Mitsubushi Outlander/C-Crosser/4007 as it ticks a box or 2. I like the idea of an SUV, but open to most things

Cheers,

At 3k I'd be keeping the drivetrain as simple as possible, with this in mind these are where I'd be looking.

Mazda5:

Kia Sedona not a looker but it'll do the family car thing with ease:

Ford Galaxy Ghia

S Max Titanium

Now I know you said 3k was your maximum but with some haggling & a little stretching of the budget would get you this Hyundai i800 which really will tick all the boxes:
