All, bit of a lurker but I find myself in the need for some new wheels.

In short I need the following:

- ability to transport 6 adults in relative comfort as have to ferry assorted parents and grandparents around

- need 4x4 to occasionally get across tracks and fields + water and snow with the back full of tools for work or full of skis

Not fussed on fuel or ULEZ.

Budget around 15k.

So far the front runner is a LR Disco 4, not afraid of these as have spent much of misspent youth underneath them. Not sure about Land Cruisers or Shoguns.

Have I missed anything?

I’ve got a 2012 X5 40d with the optional third row, and I would say the 3rd row seats are a bit of a gimmick. Only useable by kids

Not a criticism of the cars but of the sellers: The two BMW there's no real pics of the boot to show its space and shape.
Plenty of cup holder pics though...

Landcruiser or Merc GL it it were me, the Disco 4 is a lovely car but personally I’m too worried about the potential issues they suffer with their engines letting go.

Would something like a Transporter Kombi highline 4motion with appropriate tyres suit your purposes?

Hmm don't think it will cross some of the ground I need to get to.

Some other good suggestions here thanks all.

A Land Cruiser passed me whilst out walking this morning. Massive brute of a thing but just looked at details, £340 road tax and fuel economy with the diesel similar to my old Volvo 940 Petrol. What's not to like.

How about a brand new one of these, Dacia Jogger, not 4wd, but my 2wd Dacia has taken me across moorlands and along forest tracks easily.
