I currently have a Maserati Ghibli (2015) diesel that I really enjoy, but I fancy something different. The problem is that second hand cars are currently at crazy prices.

With this in mind I am looking for a car that is really good value for money (like my Ghibli), can be used daily and is fun to drive, ideally a grand tourer type as I am quite a big chap, and isnt too basic inside. The Ghibli fit that but I am a bit bored of it.

I have been tracking prices for cars such as M5's, 6 series coupe's and panamera's and prices have been going through the roof, making them not great value for money. Any ideas on hidden gems I might not have thought of?

Try the 535d/640d/740d if you want to stick with diesel. A bit of a power/torque jump over your Ghibli, and dynamically similar.

How about just below top spec model for better value?
Seems like most of these would be a nice step up in performance already.

2-seater GT:
  • Jag F-type V6S
4-seater GT:
  • MB C43/C450, E43/E53, CLS500
  • BMW 335D/340I, 550D/650I
  • Maser Ghibli/Quattroporte 3.0 V6S
  • Audi S5/S7

Pretty sure M5 V10 start at £20k.

I wouldn't want to buy one with my last £20k though... biggrin

The 3.0TT has jumped up more than most cars. I had noticed a couple of cars dropping down to £17-18k and thinking they were a bargain.

The bottom of the market is now around £24k.

£20k amg imo is the best value, up your budget another £5k and can get even better value though

If it's a petrol GT you're looking for the I'd be looking for a CL500 with the 4.7TT engine, you'll see 24-26mpg on a run & 19-21mpg around town.

Also with a cheeky remap you'll be at nigh on 500bhp which is AMG territory they're also nicely below budget.
