This will sound somewhat mad but I'm thinking of selling my mk6 gti for a 2015 onward Jetta. My work commute will be changing as I've found a temporary contract and annual mileage will now be in excess of 10,000. I've found the gti to be more thirsty than expected and to be honest I always think something will go wrong with the car there's just too many potential issues. So why Jetta? Well I saw one recently and I think they look quite smart (I am a VW fan!) and prices are nice and low on them probably cos VW didn't sell many here. If I can find one with decent spec, DSG and the 2.0 TDI (which I plan on remapping
I will be inclined to buy. I know it's a boring car and quite un-PH but what do you guys and gals think?

Remapped you’ll be at around 190 bhp and 290 lb ft - the DSGs in these can handle up to 295 lb ft so there should be some headroom. You can still encounter problems with the flywheel & clutch though

You're trading one car for basically the same car but down on power. The Jetta has a MK6 interior and drivetrain. You'd be better off looking at a Passat of a similar era to step up a tiny bit in terms of interior spec, or sidegrade to something like a Skoda Superb.
