Most comfortable/best ride quality hot hatch?

New, second hand, doesnt matter. 150hp minimum, manual prefered. Ride quality and comfort are essential. Any ideas?

I love a hot hatch but I have to say I've always thought that a stiffer ride was part of the attraction / the compromise required for the best handling
I've owned loads of hot hatches but not one I would way was comfortable

I had a Mk7 Fiesta ST2 from 2016 to 2020 - Loved it though ride quality wasn't great.
Hot hatches are designed more for their handling qualities that for comfort and ride quality IMO.

Golf GTI should be quite composed. No M Sport/S Line suspension or run flats. Smaller wheel sizes will be better.

I’d imagine most new ones are fine as they often have adjustable suspension.

Older hot hatch you’re probably looking at a Golf.

My Clio 182 on 195/50/15s manages to soak up the bumpy stuff while remaining extremely sharp with excellent body control, although I am not running standard suspension.

The standard mk3 RS Megane has a reputation for a tough ride, but the 275 I drove with Ohlins was outstanding in how it glided over rough terrain.

Golf gti Mk 7.5. Smaller wheels and/or adaptive damping will further improve the ride which is already very good

Leon Cupras have adaptive damping as standard. I've had a couple and never felt there as an issue with the ride, even on 19s.

Astra GTC VXR with the dampers you can get a softer setup when you're not looking for hot hatch fun, why not go for a warm hatch they come with a softer more compromised ride as standard.

Agree.... I got out of mine at the right time although never had any issues whilst I had it. It did ride surprisingly well though for a hot hatch certainly better than my nephew's Mk7 Fiesta ST but ultimately the Ford is a better all round performer.

Worth pointing out the engine changes with the 2015 facelift banished the worst of the Prince engine gremlins. It's no Toyota but it's a far less daunting prospect.

Focus st-3 2.5 turbo heated leather comfy and very fast with remap.
Great on fuel if you cruise and light foot.

I currently own a Mk7 Golf GTI and a face lifted Peugeot 208GTI.

Love both but the Golf GTI is far more comfortable than the 208GTI by a serious margin. The 208GTI is more fun.

I find 208GTI is better than a standard none ST fiesta or Corsa.

Volvo V40 T5, suggested just because everyone else has forgotten about it. Very quick for a hatch and very very comfy
