New (ish) car time

Wife currently has a Pug RCZ (68 plate / 60,000) and commutes to work (60 miles round trip per day) along mostly narrow country roads.
She's finally gotten fed up with being bullied by tractors, lack of visibility and a relatively hard ride and has thrown the towel in.
We've both been looking through the classifieds for a bit of inspiration but struggling for inspiration. if we could go electic then that would be cool, but it's not a deal breaker - and given the commute I think we're still in the diesel camp.
We keep circling around to Discovery Evoque's around a 2018 model - but any other suggestions ? The Evoque is winning the SUV race based on the fact it's not quite as boxy as the rest.
The left field suggestion would be to find something, that's small 2 seater and fun and just change jobs

Key for any commute is that it never lets you down. Not sure I'd be comfortable trusting a new disco/evoque to do that.
That commute is ripe for an electric car. I'd recommend an older i3, that'll be nice and narrow for the country roads. If you're going 4x4, try looking at a Lexus NX.

i think the safety feeling is leading this decision, and the logic being that a 4X4 can if needed , get up into the bushes if needed.
hadn't thought about going thinner tho !
If you can charge at home perhaps consider a BMW i3. Plenty of range for the commute, great on country lanes as so narrow, raised seating position, more practical than the RCZ and costs peanuts to run.
Your budget should get you into an approved 94ah model in either BEV or REX form, either of which will easily cover your commute all year round on electric power alone.

A Toyota hybrid should work.
I Currently have an NX Lexus (on loan) I think it would be the perfect solution. Comfortable, quiet, great visibility all round and fantastic on Fuel. Done about 60 miles yesterday in (mostly in eco mode), the needle didn't move...at all!
Rav 4 or CH-R are also worth considering.

Id agree that the commute length is getting into the range where you would see good savings with an electric car. I had a 90 mile round commute (still do, but only 2 days a week now) and an i3 that saved me a lit in fuel.
But dont get an i3!! They are really, really good around town, but absolutely terrible on country roads, which contributed to me getting rid of it. traction control was over eager to kick in and ride was really jiggly. I only had about 14 miles of the round commute being country lanes, 60 would be painful!

I've taken the Evoque of the list based on the reliability concerns. Paradoxically the NX is too big to feel comfortable in.
The CH is a shout, but I'm being told it's a bit school run mum ! However will try and get a test drive booked in and see what it's like.
any left field suggestions ? I've tried with the new Z4 !

You'll save around £2500 a year on diesel costs based on 60 miles a day.
150+ mile range, so can easily handle the commute.
SUV, so has that high up seating position she wants.
2019 model, so you are getting something newer than her current car.
2 years left on the warranty and 5 years left on the battery warranty.
Require minimal servicing.
Plenty of toys.
Silent to drive, instant torque. May not have as much power as the RCZ, but it'll feel quicker.
In my opinion, they look the part.
These dealers will even arrange to have a home charger installed if you don't have one.
