Used M2 Comp vs New M240i (2022)

Hey all, just curious. If you had 45k to spend (not that I do).
And the choice was between buying a low mileage M2 Comp (2019) model, or the new M240i - what would you go for?
I’m just curious - the new M240i sounds like it’s quite a peach of a car from most reviews out there in terms of driving experience and has better performance than the M2C. The looks however aren’t to my taste… but after seeing it in Black, it’s defo a grower, I defo don’t hate how it looks from when it was first launched.
What would you get and why if it was primarily your daily driver and fun car all in one (but not for track days)?
Ps I know there’s a channel of YouTube that’s done a direct comparison. Just curious what everyone else would buy.

Nice problem to have. I haven't driven the new 240i but it seems very well received indeed and I think it looks brilliant.
Not sure about the performance delta between the two. The new car has better traction with 4wd but not sure that always translate into an advantage.
If you want RWD and manual however there is only one choice.

If it was going to be an only car for daily commute to work etc driving in all conditions wet , snow ice typical winter then I would choose the 240i it can even have a detachable towbar ideal if your into cycling for a cycle rack or small boat trailer etc.
As an special drivers car I think the M2 Comp will be a better choice & hold its value more compared to the popular 240i which this time next year there will be loads on the road.

Chris Harris has an M2 CP and previously had an M2 I believe - he has a you tube video on it. He said when he had theM2 he couldn’t see the justification of the CP over the M2
However he then went for it as if you’ve got the means work hard why not (he’s modified it a bit too subtly) he doesn’t have any regrets and sees it as the best fun car you can buy bar none.

Ah yes that’s the one. Always been a fan of his but since he got the TG gig the levels of hyperbole are getting rather embarrassing to watch at times. Definitely taken the Clarkson approach.
Having gone from 2013 M135i to 2016 (OG) M2, i'd go for the M2. The suspension, composure, noise, drama and overall feeling of specialness is completely different.
Granted i've not tried the new M240i.
I have tried an M2 comp and wasn't as keen on it as i was the OG M2. The engine lacked a bit of noise and drama, and the exhaust back-box really ruins the back end.
I think the OG M2 will age very well. And at £30k they are an absolute bargain.

I wasn't a fan of the new 240 from the pictures that I saw of it, but I loved it when I saw it in the metal though. Seeing it in the metal made me really want one, so I'm now excited to see what they do with the new M2. TX.
Yes but what makes an m car an m car - the badge or the performance? I guess that’s what I was getting at.
Thing is I’d be same all the way, the proper m every time over the newer better and faster non m car

Yeh absolutely hated it when it first came out, but seeing it in black… it’s surprisingly interesting looking (wouldn’t say it’s conventional pretty) but pretty like some unconventional supermodels.
Still prefer the M2 comp tho
