Going to test drive one of these on Friday. I've chosen the r line as I like the look.

Car I'm testing is the 1.5 petrol.

Anybody own one of these?

My girlfriend has a golf with the 130bhp version of the engine - it’s capable yet soulless. Does reasonable MPG and is pretty smooth it’s just not an engine with any character.

The T Roc interior is a plasticky place to be so bare that in mind.

This
I was very suprised by how cheap they felt inside when I tried one.

Lady next door replaced her Fabia Monte Carlo with a T-roc about 6 month ago. Gets driven quite rapidly, still going.

The 2022 facelift has fixed this to a degree but now the screen is stuck on the dash like an iPad and the heater controls is a touch panel like the Tiguan

Just my personal opinion but for me the Kia Xceed in 4 spec with the 1.5T form is the better car:

My daughter owns a 1.5 R-line with the DSG gearbox

she really likes it,

I've driven it a few times and it's quite nippy and handles fine, the interior does feel a bit cheap with all the hard plastics but I think you'd get used to that and it's pretty well equipped,

there were quite a few people that had the same engine reporting issues with kangarooing, but I think they may have sorted that out now,

her car is a 20 plate and in the last 2 years the only issue she's had is a slight humming noise coming from the drivetrain that seems to be most evident on the motorway and is yet to be fixed

it's also pretty frugal averaging over 40 mpg and can easily get over 50 mpg on a run

hers is white silver with a black roof which is a nice combo and seems to suit it well.

Downsides,

Well I find the ride okay but being on 19" wheels means you can feel a lot of bumps which might put some off, I also find the seats a little uncomfortable on longer journeys, but when choosing options, my daughter didn't bother with the lumbar support when she ordered it, so it may not be an issue that's repeated on other cars

I'm not a fan of the touch screen and find it a bit of a faff trying to change some settings, personally I would prefer more buttons

also the steering's a little light for my liking but it does respond well to inputs and changes direction well enough

It's easy to drive and being higher up means visibility is good,

it's probably not going to get you up early on a Sunday morning just to go for a drive out, but for everyday transport it's hard to fault.

Walk past one of those X-Ceeds most days and must say it does look smart; the yellow looks good!

I test drove one of these…. The performance is appalling! I went back to the dealership after 15mins of a supposed hours test drive.

I tried it on dual carriageways, residential and rural roads (Suffolk way) and hated it. I was just willing for it to do more, but it just didn’t. I kept sighing about it and was so frustrated.

Yes we have 2.0 petrol and 2.0d German cars… but our Son has a little 1.2 57plate Clio which has way more poke than the T Roc did.

It was dull, boring and felt like I was going back into a 1995 polo coupe! What on earth were VW thinking when they created these, in this day and age with so many other inspiring makes/models around!

Spend your money elsewhere is what I would say.

Thanks for all the replies. Some good some to think about.

I've heard about the plastic trim inside and the jumping on the manual cars. I'm looking at an auto so I'm not sure its relevant. I will enquire with the dealer about it.

2 weeks in and a 1000 or so miles and i cant fault it. being an old fart, the only trouble i have is with the touch screen thing. kids help me out with it but i'm happy.

i managed to get 3 years warranty and breakdown and 2 free services as part of the deal so i'm pleased.

easy to find in the airport car park in that eye-catching colour OP cool

Congrats on your purchase - I always admire R-line VWs as I think they get the subtly sporty additions just right
