Electric (Company)car decision

I'm being pushed to select an electric company car. From the list I've narrowed my options down to
Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor
Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor Plus Pilot Pack
Kia EV6 GT Line RWD
Tesla Model Y Standard Range (Significant Pay up charge)

The Polestar is a lovely car, and the dual motor will be fast, but heard bad stories about Range, It also comes with standard cruise control, do you think this is something I'll miss doing a lot of motorway driving.....never had it before, so not sure I'll really miss it?

I think I'm discounting the Tesla on the basis of cost, but am I missing something, are they really that good?

You need to drive them IMO, I’ve not tried the EV6 but the polestar and Tesla are very different to drive. I prefer the Tesla as it feels a bit hyperactive when you want it but can settle down to a reasonable cruise too. The polestar is more relaxed all round, not as alert on a good road and to my eyes is much better looking.

Depends what you want from a car.

Depends what your requirements are, when you say being pushed, I assume its a financial thing? Could you chose a conventional car but take a hit?

Out of those 3 I think I'd chose the Kia, although the Polestar is very nice its not cheap. I personally think Teslas are overrated and they remind me of those generic cars they use for insurance and finance adds. Quality looks hit and miss too.

If it's on the list test drive the Ford Mach e it's a very good drive nice inside & good real world range, next for me would be the EV6/Ionic whichevers on your list both are good & finally the Polestar would round out my top 3.

There's nothing wrong with the Tesla I feel the others are better cars overall.

I have Test drive some of it

Polestar 2 LR Single Motor is my least favorite in this list. Do not like the interior design. Feel small inside, the steering feel quite "distant/vague" but quite comfortable on motorway. Can feel the heavy weight and body leaning when drive hard in country road

Kia EV6 GT-Line, my favorite on the list. Sportier than Polestar and certainly feel bigger inside, from my short 1.5 hrs test drive (mix of city/motorway and B road drive) it manage slightly better efficiency than Polestar 2 (3.7mile/kWh in EV6 vs 3.2mile/kWh in P* 2), I prefer the center console design in EV6 over P*2, found it to get use to. But I think GT Line lack some cool feature and GT-Line S cost more than P* 2 LR single + Plus Pack

I have not test Model Y, but a Model 3 LR. Mix feeling about it, the Model 3 is sportiest of 3 and feel the most spacious. The dash is low give driver a great view, the test drive car come with white interior + the very big pan roof give the most premium feeling interior. Even the SR is quicker than the two, and better equipped, the tech are amazing. However, I found the seat too soft and lack of support, the ride is too harsh (and I am FK2 ex owner). The steering is sharp but car dyanmic feel quite "digital". I really dislike "one iPad to control all" centre console

My pick would be EV6 GT-Line, you will miss out some good feature like electric tail gate, 360 camera, blindspot camera, and I think lane keep assist too. The GT-Line S upgrade is good value if the extra are some "must have" for you

P.S. on your last question, Tesla tech is way ahead any EV i have test drive. Their route planning, recognition of surrounding (e.g. traffic light/speed limit/car/bike/pedestrian) are certain better than most. As a Car I think it is more marmite, you either love or hate their super simiplicity design, their arcade game like driving feel and dynamic and their overall equipment package. From what I see they like Apple there are very strong group and love everybit of Tesla and a very strong group who hate every bit

If you are doing motorway miles, how many and how far?

The Tesla might! be your only choice

They don't sell a standard range Model Y so assume it must be a long range?

If your driving consists of a lot of high speed cruising then the best choice would be the P2 single motor with the plus + pilot packs. 250 miles of range, all the gadgets (although they've recently pulled the pixel lights due to chip shortages) and quick enough for a daily driver. You'll benefit from the ACC, 360 cameras, heat pump, panoramic roof etc. more than the quicker 0-60 time IME.

Sorry - Yes, it is the long range Y, but it has a big monthly charge. Range isn't an issue, my normal daily commute will range between 80 miles, Guildford into London to 110 miles Guildford to Tunbridge Wells/Sevenoaks area, with the very odd 200mile round trip.

My personal preference was 1. P2 Dual Motor, 2 Kia EV6 Single motor GT line/Polestar 2 Single motor Long range with Plus Pack. Cost ruled the Tesla out, as it is very much a work car, The question is would I miss adaptive Cruise control or not!

There's more than just cruise control to consider as without the pilot and plus packs the Polestar 2 standard kit is quite sparse with the only benefits being AWD and added performance that you will rarely use IME.

What you'd not get in the dual motor P2

- ACC
- 360 camera
- Power seats with driver memory
- Heat Pump
- Upgraded stereo
- Heated rear seats and steering wheel
- Panoramic roof

And a few more bits besides. The GT LIne RWD EV6 is also missing a few of these things and offers no benefit from a performance perspective so would be bottom of my list personally.
