Hi,

I'm considering purchasing a £14k car which is 320 miles away (about 6 hours drive one way). Service history etc all looks good

As its a 12 hour round trip, I don't want to hire a car and spend a whole day driving just to find out its a lemon.

I see that places like AA/RAC offer vehicle inspections for £100-200

Are these types of inspections worth the notes? Has anyone had any experience with these

TIA

They're quite good but they very dependent on who's doing the inspection, they do offer peace of mind & if something fundamental has been missed you do have some recourse, so I'd say it's worth it.

Yes, I've used them on occasion. Not the be all and end all but a whole lot better than nothing.

When did the car last have an MOT? I know it's not the same as a buyer's inspection (i.e. nothing cosmetic etc) but, again, if it's a long time since the last MOT a fresh ticket (ideally from the local main dealer) gives at least some comfort for your £54.85
