Lexus NX - What Should My First Offer Be?
Discussion
Hi,
I'm on the market for a used Lexus NX from 2017 up.
i have two that i'm interested in and i'm about to make offers on both.
The first is a 2017 Lexus NX F-Sport, 48,807 miles with an asking price of £27,994.
The second if a 2017 Lexus NX Sport, 45,000 miles with an asking price of £25,654.
I was think i should go in with an opening offer at around 15% below the asking price and work from there.
So that would be an opening offer of around:
2017 Lexus NX F-Sport: Asking price: £27,994: Opening offer: £24,000
2017 Lexus NX Sport: Asking price: £25,654: Opening offer: £22,000
Does that sound about right, or am i going in too low/high?
Thanks for any advice...

View the cars first as one may be in better condition than the other, also with the shortage of used stock you'll be politely given a firm no.I'm on the market for a used Lexus NX from 2017 up.

Why not see if there are any Manufacturer/Dealer contributions if you take up their finance or if there are any service packs they'd like to include.
You may find that you yield more success that way.
Yeah good luck with 15% off a 2017 car. Especially with it being a popular shape and engine. You’d have had more luck if it was a v8 barge.
I tend to find these days that getting ‘add ons’ is easier than removals- e.g a free tank of fuel or a warranty upgrade and all the scratches/wheel refurbs done free of charge than actually getting any pence off the sales price.

Doesn't really answer the question, but there isn't (well there wasn't last year) a lot in it price wise between the RX and the NX.
The RX is a significantly better (faster, better equipment, better handling, nicer interior). Only downside is fuel economy, but the nx isn't great either.
My OH test drove a couple of NXs then reluctantly tried the RX as I suggested she'd miss the power of her old car. Night and day better was her view.
A lot are put off by the looks and the cvt but if you're already looking at NXs then this obviously doesn't bother you. Think she paid ~ 29/30 for hers at similar miles to what you're looking at and same age.
ETA she gets 35mpg from her 450 sport, which isn't bad for 2 tonnes and a 3.5l V6.

That’s great for the size. I got 35mpg from both my Audi S1 (2litre) and the BMW 330d (!) that I used to own.The RX is a significantly better (faster, better equipment, better handling, nicer interior). Only downside is fuel economy, but the nx isn't great either.

so i'm getting the impression 15% is not realistic lol..
would say 5% > 7% be a reasonable place to start.
Ticket price: £27,994: -7% = £26,034: -5% = £26,594.
Ticket price: £25,654: -7% = £23,858: -5% = £24,371.
I wouldn’t go in with that mentality. I’d just got test both and decide if I got a better vibe from one. Then I’d listen to their best offer (without giving them a number yourself) and then say you’re viewing another one that day and you’ll pick between the two. The one that phones you is the one that will give you the discount.would say 5% > 7% be a reasonable place to start.

If I was a dealer and someone walked in saying they’ll only pay £xk then I’d just tell them that they won’t be buying a car from me that day and good day to you.
If you’re going to ask for a discount of any percentage you need to be prepared to justify it. If the car is 15 percent more expensive than similarly priced ones then fair enough. If you just like the idea of 15 percent off then you know what the answer is going to be.
Auto trader ads allow you to see how long a car has been for sale. Motors all tend to be competitively priced as dealers know customers will simply search by price. If it’s been around a while you’ve at least got something to bargain with.

You don't mention whether it's a Lexus dealership or not.
Don't forget the 10 year warranty. If you purchase from a non franchised dealer or privately, you can have a years warranty from a Lexus dealer when you have it serviced, until the car is 10 years old.

According to their A/T links the Shelbourne car has only been in stock since 23 March and given the lack of pics, still seems to be in the prep stage.I'm on the market for a used Lexus NX from 2017 up.

The Agnew one has been on the site since 8th March, so a little over a month.
I cant imagine either Shelbourne or Agnews offering much off either of those cars.
EDIT: Just did a UK wide price check on A/T for both those and they're both among the cheapest nationally.

If you havent seen the vehicles yet how are you going to justify such large discounts? or do you just think they have massive margins in the cars so can therefore afford a large discount?would say 5% > 7% be a reasonable place to start.
Ticket price: £27,994: -7% = £26,034: -5% = £26,594.
Ticket price: £25,654: -7% = £23,858: -5% = £24,371.
If you have viewed the car and can justify the discount ( due a service or needs discs & pads) etc they may negotiate slightly but if your opening gambit is between 5 and 15% off the vehicle you may be asked to leave the premises and told to look at cars you can afford.
