Hi All

I have a budget of £30 - £35k (£35k is absolute max)

I need something fun and different. But must have 4 doors (to fit a rear facing child seat)

I’ve owned a ghibli before and enjoyed it a lot but found it was just too small for the big child seats.

I’m now looking at either a C8 Audi A7 (55 TFSI) or a quattroporte.

Servicing and fuel costs are not too much of a concern but I would like something that puts a smile on my face when I get in it.

Any owners of either the above with opinions? Or is there anything else I should consider?

Cheers

Your heart will say QP, head will say A7.

Never had any experience of the Maser but I've had an A8 with the same 3.0 TFSI engine. Lovely and smooth. Had it remapped to circa 450bhp and it flew. The sound won't be as nice as the Maser though.

You already know the brand & that they're a very good car, so it has to be the Maserati:

Alternative to the Quattroporte would be the V6 XJ:

If you're getting the Maser it has to be the GTS 3.8 TT.
If not get the Audi.

Had mine for 2 years and it's been faultless up until yesterday. Power steering leak and crankshaft rear seal. Easy fixes.

Get it chipped to 580bhp. In sport mode it will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

Why not consider the S7 or RS7 as well?

They're both in budget and more similar to the QP in engine and performance.

My heart prefers the QP but I haven't driven any of them so it would depend on that.

Super good domestic appliance or a car that pulls the heart strings and embodies the passion of driving.

For me it’s no contest and the scroats are less likely to try and steal the Italian car.

Is that not an oxymoron? Good car I'm sure but fun/different?

I have an A7, after a few teething problems, it is by far the best car/engine I've ever had.
It does everything I want, and it has loads of space including a massive boot.
I'm reluctant to replace it.
Just keep an eye on the Speedometer!

That's the old one. I'd assume the OP is looking at a 2013> new shape car based on his budget.
