Which car after years of leasing?
Discussion
Ok, I’ve left it too late. After about 10 years of leasing, my current car goes back at the end of May. No decent deals out there, after years of good ones (golf r, v90, Megane etc etc)
Thankfully I’ve found myself with a decent pot of cash thanks for a sale of a house. I’m looking at spending around £20-£25k, or less on something fun, a bit different and something that won’t lose me much money whenever I sell when the next decent lease deal comes up.
I know it’s impossible to predict, but was hoping for something that I could keep for 6 months and sell with minimal depreciation. Key thing is, I’m going to need the majority of my money back in order to buy a new property.
Must have 4 seats. Current thinking is pick up a £23-£25k Mustang 5.0 V8 to have a bit of fun in? Surely there can’t be too much of a loss in that?
Any opinions welcome

Others may think differently although given the current high prices of second hand cars, there is always a risk that the market may fall quickly and you lose more money than ideal.
Perhaps spend less on something short term pending the good lease deals coming back in stream?
Agree with you completely. But I can’t really also ever see myself in the likes of a V8 mustang again, so thought this might be the prime opportunity to get something like that?Perhaps spend less on something short term pending the good lease deals coming back in stream?
There’s a £23k mustang V8 online, 2016. Surely if I buy it, keep it for 6 months, sell privately I wouldn’t lose more than the rentals on a Skoda Octavia in this current climate? (6 x £300)

Go for it I can't see you losing much at this price point & you only live once There’s a £23k mustang V8 online, 2016. Surely if I buy it, keep it for 6 months, sell privately I wouldn’t lose more than the rentals on a Skoda Octavia in this current climate? (6 x £300)

Buy the Mustang.
You have the cash, it will cost you, but if you are leasing again in the future you won't need the cash anyway. Unless you are planning on doing something with the cash in the future too?
Otherwise buy an interesting shed. You don't need to spend a fortune to get some interesting metal and less likely to lose so much money in depreciation.

Something interesting on the flat part of the depreciation curve I'd look at a stylish V8.
A Maserati 4200 is a rare beast but good value and in manual it solves the main issue with the car which was the sluggish cambiocorsa gearbox.
