Ford Mondeo Vignale with panoramic glass roof

I'm looking at a Ford Mondeo Vignale with a panoramic glass roof. It's a very nice feature which lets lots of light in etc but what are the drawbacks? Will it be as prone to stone chips as the windscreen and would it completely crack in the way the windscreen could? If it did how expensive would it be to replace?

No more prone to stone chips than the roof of any car, I'd imagine.

Cost to replace is likely to be in four figures. Worth checking if your insurance includes it as part of windscreen cover, so no loss of NCB if you claim and just the windscreen excess to pay. Most dont, I believe, and just treat it as they would any other body panel.

My wife's car has a pan roof. No issues in 6 years and she loves it. I've had one in a Civic before and again no problems.

I have one as my daily it's been faultless over the last 78k & I've had no chips on the roof, the only thing I will say is if you go for the lighter leather then get it professionally cleaned once a year.

We had one on our old Galaxy. Brilliant thing - lots of light and a nice view of bikes or boats on the roof rack.
Ours had two different blinds - one 'black out' cover and one perforated white thermal blind, which worked very well in 30*c + Southern France.

Had one on my 2012 S-max. Dont know if the technology has changed over the years but it had a canvas blind controlled by the push of a button.

A nice feature, and no problem with chips/cracking etc. in 3 yrs or so of ownership.

Beware if you have kids - mine occasionally touched the blind as it opened/closed and in the weeks before I was looking to sell it the thing malfunctioned - motor still worked but the blind seemed to come off its runners and wasn't closing evenly and was sagging.

I looked at fixes/replacement etc. - the former does not seem possible and the latter is best part of a grand, so expensive if they go wrong.
