I use it a lot for both buying and selling and think it does its job well, but I'm not sure I'd use it for sourcing £10k cars.A total waste of time.

I personally wouldn't buy a car over £10k privately from any advertising media, with the possible exception of a well-known looked after owners' club type car.
For cheaper cars, I don't see what's wrong with Facebook marketplace? You can get a feel for the the car & seller by the language and quality of the description (you could even look at their own profile and other sold items if you wanted to dig deeper). As long as your expectations are alligned with the price of the car I don't see how it's any different to eBay, Gumtree etc.

I was using the £10K as an example of the numerous fraud posts waiting to sucker people in. I totally agree about the vibe you get from the text used, pics, name and location. You build a picture in your head and a sense of whether its legit or not.
I see numerous posts in my area of people being scammed via market place, phones, watches, goods. Like you say, no different than eBay or gumtree.
