Just "Bought" a Infiniti Q70 2.2d, Have I gone mad?
Discussion
So, I have always liked the Infiniti Q70.
I had been looking at new (to me) cars recently. Around the £5-6k mark. Mostly 07-08 plate low mileage/ low owner cars, with not much success, wasted journeys etc, hours spent looking on Autotrader. Older Mercs/ Jags etc.
Anyway, this popped up on Cazoo.
A 2 owner 17 plate Q70 2.2d in sport trim. 50k miles. FDSH (apart from the last one as Infiniti are no longer in the UK) for £13,700.
Ideally I wanted to go and view the car prior to making the purchase. But this isn't an option with Cazoo. You pay. Then you view the car and have the right to reject/ get your money back on the spot if you are not happy or take it away for 7 days and return for a full refund if you are not happy.
Few photos of the car in question...

Anyway, due to the long bank holiday, I now have to wait till the car is ready for collection. Which is not ideal, as I now have that period in between making the purchase and getting buyers remorse.
For me the pro's are.
It is a relatively new car so should prove reliable.
Subjective, but I love the way these look.
They are also rare which make them stand out in a sea of German vehicles.
Price, yes these cars might have been cheaper, a year back, but this one seems "fair" in terms of current market values.
Price again, 5 Series/ E Class are about £4-5k more and will not come with as many options. This has things like 360 degree camera/ heated and cooled seats etc.
Reliability, from what I have read, these are solid cars built to last. They also use the 2143cc Mercedes diesel engine, which a few people have told me is basically bullet proof.
Pick up is local, no more faffing around driving up and down the country looking at cars that are not as advertised. I also have a friend who has offered a great price for my current car.
Con's.
While subjective, it is not as good to drive as a 5 series.
The diesel engine is not the most refined.
Infiniti are no longer in the UK, so parts might be an issue. Having said that, a lot of the parts are MB and things like brake discs, pads, radiator etc are all available on Auto doc. I can't actually not find anything available, that would potentially go wrong.
It might be worth 10p when I come to sell it, however, I do intend to keep for a long time.
So, am I mad? I Thought I would ask the PH collective as I don't want to bore people in my everyday life about this lol.

I wouldn't have thought so. You seemingly get a lot for your money with Infiniti and besides, loads of cars now share parts and tech so really it's down to if you like how it drives and the tech you get with it. Regarding parts, Honda have pulled out of the UK as well (Europe as well I believe) but that wouldn't put me off. Lots of parts are usually ordered in anyway on the whole "just in time" thing.
I'm not always a huge fan of their exteriors, but they do catch your eye when you see one out and about which is rare and perhaps a good thing. I do like their interiors though and I guess that's what you see when you are driving.

I wouldn't get buyers remorse just yet, like you say you'll get 7 days to figure out whether it's the right car for you.
Like you say prices are what they are at the moment but you clearly think it's good enough value against the other options. If you like the looks and get all the kit you're after I think you are in a good place.
I'd try and do as much as I can in the 7 days to put it through it's paces in terms of how you will use it so you know whether it's a keeper or not. If you have a decent indy near you maybe ask them to give it a look over and let you know of any bits and pieces that might need doing in the near future.

I've had an Infiniti (mine's a QX70) for about three years now. It's been really good and I don't regret buying it. It's been totally reliable other than a slight weird thing with the service indicator which has now been sorted. Servicing has never been a problem, I get mine done at a reputable indie neighbourhood garage.
Some parts are expensive but then some parts are expensive on almost any car these days. Mine has the 3.0d V9X engine which was also in a lot of Renault Espaces and Lagunas, and some Nissan Pathfinders and Navaras.
You'll find the satnav is almost hilariously out of date and can't be updated because no one has the discs any more. You can get a replacement head unit (ZX110R of this parish, who knows about Infinitis, gave me a link once; I can't lay hands on it just now but you can replace and modernise, I just haven't done it yet). I don't find it a major bother; I tend to use my iPhone on a handsfree cradle with Google Maps or Waze if I'm driving anywhere I know the satnav won't have the latest roads mapped.
Yours looks to be the same black as mine. It's one of those shades that looks amazing when it's all polished up, and then you drive it down the road for 10 minutes and it looks all dusty again. Fairly standard black paintwork I suppose. I find it relatively soft paint, so I don't use rollover car washes.
I hope you enjoy it, it's a nice car.

Thanks for all the replies.
Part of the reason I am maybe over thinking this, is that I have never spent this much money on a car before...
This is my current daily drive and has been for the past 2 years....

I also didn't mention I have buyers remorse already, that happens once the car is to hand, it is the period in between buying and collecting it and having nothing to really do as it is a long bank holiday that doesn't help.
Even after purchasing, I was looking at what else is available around this price range and in all honesty, nothing else really appeals, so will stop doing this now, head to the gym and look forward to when the car is ready to collect.
Anyway, glad to hear that people like the car and don't think I should be sectioned.
I agree it is a bit leftfield, which is part of the appeal and I have had Saabs in the past.
With regards depreciation, I know it is never going to hold its money as good as the Germans, but the lower initial outlay offsets this along with the fact that I would keep for at least 5-7 years.
Yes, I had noticed ZX110R seems to heap praise on these. Waiting for him to chime in. lol.

Do you mean Mitsubishi? I know the Swindon factory has closed but not heard anything about Honda leaving Europe.OP, I think you've made a smart choice given what you've told us - if you're keeping the car a long time then resale isn't such a concern and in any case future value can be balanced against the saving you're making now by buying this over a typical 5 Series or E-Class.
I sat in one of these at the Nissan showroom in Yokohama (top spec one), interior felt really nice to me. These are the same basic underlying platform as the 350Z etc so decent to drive I think, and pretty reliable.
Four cylinder diesel wouldn't be my choice, but should do 50mpg extra-urban (based on my parents E250 with the same engine) and benefits from being ULEZ compliant.
So yeah, I think a good buy, let us know how you get on with it when it arrives.

I did mean Honda; both Swindon and a smaller plant in Turkey to be completely closed. I think they are going to keep a headquarters presence in the UK..
The dealer network appears to be shrinking too, I had a letter from the dealer in Salisbury earlier this week saying they had lost their Honda franchise. I drove past on Friday and it's now a Ssangyong dealer.A bit late but I'm here the, it looks like you've already done your research so there's not much I have to add.
Nissan will service the car & can also update the nav up to 2018.
You can add Android Auto/Apple Carplay by adding this unit & then everything comes up on the screen.

They're good cars & still good value they drive well things like air cooled seats are a nice touch I didn't see what model it was but some also have adaptive cruise too.

Infiniti is Nissan. Honda's version is or was Acura.trashbat said:
