I’ve found a local Omega Estate. I think it would be a fantastic workhorse and you don’t see many of them anymore:

The seller seems a little deluded and that he thinks he’s undervalued the car given that I had just spent £1,500 on the replacement engine £400 on 4 new tyres, £150 to have the Tow bar fitted and a further £100 for its annual service & MOT which comes to £ 2,150 and of course I had forgotten to add on the residual value of the car itself which for a 2003 Omega Estate you will find that "we buy any car.com" only value at around £350 which is silly, so yes I should've advertised it as "offers over" £2,500 + the value of petrol in the tank which at current petrol prices is £150 for a full tank of 75 Litres

I'd want to see a lot more than 403 miles on a replacement engine before I felt comfortable with that.

Sounds like someone wanting to cut their losses / risk.

As a former Omega owner I can confirm that a V6 Elite or MV6 is a marvellous thing.

As this is neither it’s a ‘No’ from me.

So the Z22XE engine is not top of the range (Despite some minor design work with Lotus), the CDX trim isn't top of the range either, the headlights appear to be heading toward an MOT failure, the tow bar is rusty, it has an unproven engine and clearly has cost cutting measures which are evidenced by fitting those ditch seeking missiles masquerading as tyres. Not sure this is a good buy. I love the Omega and would like one, but wouldn't like this one.

A 3.2 MV6 auto saloon would be the one for me, if such a thing can be found.

I had a saloon manual 3.0 MV6 for over 6 years - great car.

I've been looking for an estate version or Elite model with all the toys for a while. One of the biggest load luggers around.

That car is average, no more !

Haha. I think they are trying their luck with the used car market being all over the place. Realistically it’s a £500 - £800 at best I think. The fact that he is expecting the next person to pay for the Reg transfer, fuel that’s in the car is laughable. Plus the tow bar is rusted to hell. It’s not even a year old.

Hopefully this mysterious buyer will buy it. I was interested in but the seller seems to think quite highly of himself and that it’s worth above £2k. Has nobody told him that you never ever get the money back you’ve spent on a car. Unless of course it’s rare and in mint condition and collectible.

I think he should have priced it at £1,250. It's low mileage, but tatty with the faded headlights, de-lacquered paint etc. The ditchfinder tyres and rusted towbar point to scrimping and he has been forced to install a new engine.

Can't see taxi companies being interested unless they convert it to LPG.

Maybe he is raving at the spec because it's the most loaded car he has ever had.

I think that you’re right with the price. As it does need a bit of work doing to it.

The other thing to note is that most local authorities now have age limits on cars used as taxis. I do fondly remember Gatwick Cars having Omega Estates for virtually their whole fleet for a while.

This did pique my interest and there are other Omegas on FleaBay from £750.
