My Mondeo Vignale 2.0d (mapped to a smidge under 260bhp) daily has been a real world 57.8mpg fill up to fill up over the last 35k it mainly does motorway work the best I've seen fill up to fill up 68.9mpg but my average speed was lower.Is there anything out there that genuinely returns 60pmg and isn't a horrible tiny peanut-sized car?

I've driven a lot of E-Trons & GTE's once on the Motorway they're not the greatest on fuel, in most cases no better than a GTI.
It's all about each persons usage, I'm glad your car works for you but in reality for me it wouldn't get close to my Mondeo for my journeys it would be costing me a fair bit more & it wouldn't be as relaxing either.

My wife has a Cupra Leon 245 PHEV. The real world figures aren't all that great when running in hybrid mode tbh. I don't look, but I'm sure it is sub 60mpg.

The mrs had a ioniq hybrid, dull to drive and the gearbox frustrated me but the MPG was one thing I couldn't fault, I recall long motorway cruises being 62-65mpg without really trying. The car also comes with a lot of toys for the pricepoint, if it wasn't for the gearbox I reckon we'd have kept it long term as a second/third car.
i was thinking about this recently after someone at work commented on how she gets 45mpg in her £30 VED supermini hatchback (I can't even remember what car it is, maybe a Hyundai?)
I have a 2020 VW Passat 2.0 TDI DSG Estate that is also £30 VED car. When I pootle from Kent to Brumingham listening to loud music to collect Vikingette1 from University it gets 63mpg displayed and around 61mpg brimmed.
On a recent caving trip to North Wales, 4 up, boot rammed, roofbox rammed, the Passat got 57.3mpg brimmed, mostly travelling at NSL/80mph. It got me thinking that with such good mpg on a large car, why sit in a buzzy tinbox for lesser economy.

Mine isn't that great, indicates about 58mpg at 70mph, which increases to about 63mpg (indicated) at 65mph.Seems quite variable and I've noticed that it drops to mid 50's before a service then instantly jumps back up again when services.
