I am in the market for a nice estate thinking 330 or eclass or audi a4 that type of thing however I know very little about cars in the first place so buying private scres the life and id much rather buy from an enthusiast but as my knowledge is limited im leaning towards a dealer and the peace of mind of warranty that comes with it so hoping the community can help - could stretch myself a bit further if needed but needs to be big as I run a fdootball team and do a lot of fishing so space is a premium could consider an suv

Thanks for the advice and as you guessed Im not big into cars however I am into nice things and having driven company cars from BMW, Jag, AUdi, Land Rover and Maserati in the past they are the brands that Im familiar with so I wouldnt normally consider the brand names mentioned

The 5 series is a definite consideration just so many too chose from hence why I thought Id ask here to see if an enthusiast may have such a vehicle in classifieds

I'm guessing from your post that you're not too interested in cars? If that's the case I'd forget paying a premium for any of the cars you've mentioned and instead opt for something from a 'mainstream' brand. You'll get more for your money and be able to buy a newer/better car than you would otherwise.

Off the top of my head, I'd be looking at the following estates:
Mondeo
Hyundai i40
Kia Optima
Toyota Avensis
Skoda Superb
Dacia Logan

They'll should be cheaper to buy and cheaper to run than the three examples you gave.

If you're stuck on a BMW, Merc or Audi, I'd steer clear of the 330 and A4 if you needs lots of space. 5 Series and A6 are bigger.

If you're not confident buying privately, go to a dealer. You get protection under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and can reject the car within 30 days if it's faulty. You can also, as you say, get a warranty but be aware that these generally come with a range of caveats and some are not worth the paper they're printed on.
I have to agree with this.

All depends what you want to get out of the car...
If youre willing to sacrifice a few 'amenities' then go for the BMW/Audi/Merc esque cars, if you want something fully kitted Id take a look at the above as you will certainly get more for your money - just not as luxurious materials.

Also depends how old you mind the car being - BMW/Audi/Merc will have older cars in this price bracket with a higher spec but youre going to lose out on fuel efficiency, potential of lots of miles on the car etc...

I don't run a football team, but do go fishing abroad from time to time, so needed space for all the gear. I also like nice things and wanted something with a bit of luxury, but equality I wanted reliability. In the end I went for a Lexus suv (RX 450h), as they seem reliable and the warranty can be extended up to 15yrs/150k miles, and I'm very pleased with it. You should be able to pick up a pretty decent one with your budget.

Here's one OP

Quite a wedge for a 7 yo SUV but people do say they're good (although I have never owned a Lexus myself)

OP states they're not much of a car fan and only really wants the quality interior, yet your suggestion is one of these beasts? I like it but not sure it's overly suited to OP.
