Astra GTC 1.6T

Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying one of the above and I'm looking for opinions on reliability, driving experience and general good/bad points. Max budget around £10K.

They're very good cars, they're also good reliability wise & they also have the benefit from having the same revo knuckle setup that the VXR has (but not the diff) so they steer well too.

Also look for one with the Nav as you get some nice extras.

No problem glad to help, I forgot to say that if you go for the 1.4T it doesn't come with the revo knuckle setup, it still drives nicely but it's not as sweet as the 1.6T.

Always liked these although never owned one.

The 'stance' seems just a little bit too high for whatever reason. Even in the VXR.

Had one in 2014. Not a bad car. Pretty poor on fuel for the performance.

Doors are ridiculously long which is a real pain in car parks!

Thanks for the replies. I think that the 1.4 would be a little on the slow side for me. I've read that the doors can cause problems!
I'm currently driving a 2009 Mondeo, so I know all about limited space in car parks! 😂

Don’t remap them, I have heard of remapped Corsa VXR’s running the same engine cracking their pistons. Plus you only get around another 20bhp. On the other hand, you’d be pretty unlucky to have that happen.

I've seen these mapped with no issues, same with the Corsa VXR, like all things use a decent company & you'll be fine.

My Mondeo only has 145 BHP and weighs the same as a bus, so I wouldn't need more power in the short term!

Does the estate version of the 1.6T Astra have the fancy revo knuckle or is it just the coupe? (no accent as I don't know what button to press to get it).

The normal Astra just has the normal front suspension.

No only the GTC/Cascada 200 get that suspension setup.
