Unsure what to get for next car! (30-40k, weekend use)

I currently have a Abarth 595 Comp on lease, and am working out what I would like next. I got the Abarth due to covid, low miles, low cost, no practicality requirements. Previous car was a GT86 with the big body kit
Ive since managed to increase my income substantially so I have access to cars that i have always wanted but couldn't afford. However when i look into them i just see much bigger running costs, higher risk of me loosing my licence if i used any of their ability, and that i will still only really drive them on weekends and to the gym (i do about 5k a year and work in london).
Ive flipped between the idea of an Alpine A110 because sports car handling and looks, which i could go on driving trips with, all the way to range rover evoque because realistically 9/10 times i go in the car itll just be to get somewhere so comfort is probably wiser as an investment. And looked at EV but feels like a waste putting that much into a car that isnt fun or luxurious. I like unusual cars be that colour or spec so thats probably the only key criteria, as well as modern-ish because of tech
This would be the only car in the household of 2, no kids (yet, maybe 3-4 years), we may get a second car for town run around but not currently needed.
Has anyone else faced this disillusionment of choice between performance or comfort? If i needed 4 seats im sure it would be simpler!

yeah the M2 or M2 comp with a budget stretch was on the short list. My main concern was it not feeling special as its just a 2 series on steroids (though so its my 595 with the 500 and its good fun!) I suppose an exhaust can add some character. But i wasnt sure a M2 is a weekend only car you'd look forward to?infernouk said:

another short list choice i looked at but not sure about the v6 running cost and its a worse drive than an alpine / quite a common car (albeit not like the cayman is)No major issues. You can get a V8 at the top of your budget……..

Aside from that, I definitely recommend getting a test drive in an A110, smart, classy, comfortable and yet when you up the pace it's 'with' you all the way. Not for everyone but well worth having a go to see how you find them. They're also available in a very wide range of 'special' colours, if just having an A110 isn't unique enough for you

I've never had £30-40k to spend on a toy or any car infact. Are you looking to buy outright or finance? If you are worried about risk and buying outright, then you will want to look at something with good residuals. Which might change what cars you look at.

They're in no particular order but you will need to test drive them because at this price point (or any price point for that matter) you have to get the car that suits YOU.
