Hello all,

As above, you’ve got to choose 1 car only. It’s got to do everything for you:
Family car with baby seat(s) in back.
Commuter car
Your back road sports car/play thing.
At that price level it ought to be comfortable too.
Can be new or used.
And something you can leave at the train station car park. So no silly used Rolls Royce’s etc.

No full EVs.
No 4X4s/SUVs. Hateful things.

£150k odd to spend

What say you?

Alpina B5.

I know it falls short of £150k but that's what I'd buy with that budget and criteria.

Something like an RS6 would be my choice one car all rounder I guess.

I am however a big advocate of having several cars as one just isn’t enough you need at least 3 laugh

A GT3 Touring if you can get an allocation (leave the family at home, or get a divorce. It’s worth it.). Failing that, a 992 C2 GTS with a manual box and rear wheel steer.

E63S Estate and a fair chunk of change left over?

A bit smaller, so less practical, an RS4 Avant. Personally I would go second hand V8 rather than new, because V8.

Because I think you'd have to be a bigoted idiot to call it hateful.

How does it for this part though?

“Your back road sports car/play thing.”

I am in the one car doesn’t fit everything camp though. With £150k budget I would have a very interesting garage but that’s not what the op is asking.

So imo closest to op’s requirements it would probably be a RS6/ “sporty” Porsche Cayenne or Panermera?

Why would you spend £150k on a car, only to leave it at the train station and travel 3rd class with all the other peasants?

I'll keep the GT86, given that brief.

Keep the suggestions coming please. Very interesting.

(Not sure that dislike of a given segment of cars makes one bigoted but then perhaps woke had extended to cars. I wouldn’t countenance an SUV, aside from off-road driving, which I don’t need, they do almost everything worse than a non SUV apart from maybe appeal to one’s sense of being a fashion victim. Call me “bigoted” if you wish. It’s just a car preference).

If full EVs were introduced, what then?

Model X plaid would be my choice. Fits 7, good to drive, supercar performance, can constantly thrash it and still be cheaper than a fiesta to run, masses of space, 4 wheel drive, and it farts. If I'm spending £150k on a car I want to be entertained whether I'm blasting down a b road, embarrassing BMW m3's at the traffic lights, flying up a dirt track road or 3ft of water, or sat in a car park.
