Memory seat SUV help please!
Discussion
Hi,
I'm hoping you'll all have some ideas for me. I have a disability which means I need electric seats, preferably memory seats but it's not a deal breaker. I also need it to be automatic. If the gear selector is up high and on the right that's a massive bonus. I currently drive a Mercedes V Class and a BMW i3 and they both work well for me. The V class is my car and the i3 is my husband's but the v class is a long wheel base and is just a bit big for doing the school run on Cornish country lanes. Does anyone have any ideas for something that won't break the bank? Oh it also needs to be able to tow a small caravan! Looking to spend no more than £30k ideally. Thanks in advance!

A high-mounted gear selector, near the wheel, is relatively common, perhaps especially on Japanese cars. However all the cars I've seen have it mounted on the centre console, so on your left in a RHD car. You could consider buying a LHD car, in which case it would be high and to the right in these cars.
Beyond that, £30k opens up a lot of options for mid-size SUVs / crossovers. How old would you consider? Do you have a preference for petrol, diesel, hybrid or EV?
One option for a luxo-SUV would be the Lexus RX450

gear selector looks pretty high and close to the wheel, but obv on the left unless you find a LHD example.

I'm fairly flexible to be honest. I'd love electric or hybrid, failing that petrol but I'd get diesel for the right car. I'd prefer it not to be too old as I want it to be reliable. Probably no older than 2016 but preferably newer. Beyond that, £30k opens up a lot of options for mid-size SUVs / crossovers. How old would you consider? Mercedes GLA, GLC - look for Premium Plus specification which often has heated electric memory seats and with any model spec, the gear selector is high up on the right hand side of the steering wheel
I used to drive a c class and really liked it so a GLC is definitely a good shout. I have just found a GLA near me which I think I'll go and have a look at too!Bigfrillypants said:

I have a GLC and although it wasn't my choice but my wife's, I have to say, I've grown to love it. It's a really nice car. Mine is AMG Line Premium spec, not Premium Plus, and it has electric, heated, memory seats.
That's good to know, we're definitely considering itZX10R NIN said:
