MOT on 2 year old car???

Hi, I am buying an approved use car, which is ~2 years old. I have paid everything. But now I found between I paid the deposit and the made the other payment, the car got a MOT, which is way earlier than the 3 year anniversary. Is it common? I just wonder something is wrong with this car.

It is a BMW 1 from a main dealer as AUC. I checked the history online with RAC and everything looked fine. At that time there is no MOT. More details the better answers you will get
Now I checked the car again and found it got its first MOT, a few days after I paid the deposit and before I paid the rest money. It is a bit surprise to me as it is basically around the 2year anniversary of the car.
Maybe it's a cheap way of doing one of those "99 point approved car" inspections, proves it's all good and cheaper than using their own techs plus it's an official document.
I've bought approved used cars only to find nobody has honestly looked at it (TPMS light on one, 70 psi in one tyre on another...).

That is interesting. When I did the test drive, I saw a pre delivery inspection in the car service history around August/September this year, before I knew this car. I bought an approved used car recently 2.5 years old, but they put a MOT on it so it has 12 months cover from date of sale.
It's fairly common, I think some approved used schemes say it has to be done.
With the car also being serviced before delivery it means you have a full year before requiring a service/MOT rather than having to come back for just the MOT before then.
Also gives you reassurance that the car is in good condition - maybe the pre sale check doesn't cover all the mechanical items an actual MOT does.
