So the current shed is due it's mot next month, I'm not too confident in it passing and should the bill be too high it'll be getting scrapped rather than fixed.

I've been fancying a new car for a while now but with only 3 years of driving and 2 years of no claims insurance is still a bit of an issue. I see a lot of people raving about the swift sport on here but I was wondering about some other alternatives. I do like the swift sport and there's one local to me in budget but curious about what other cars are out there.

It'll be my only car for a daily commute of around 30-40 miles a day mostly motorways/ a roads. A lot of my free time is spent driving on b roads so fun handling is much more of a priority than straight-line speed. Wouldn't mind having cruise control for the daily commute but have managed fine so far without. I'm open to pretty much anything but the main battle currently is insurance.

Budget of around £5k but could go a bit higher for the right car, let me know any suggestions smile.

I like the Swift Sport it’s a nice car.

If you could I’d maybe suggest going a bit higher and going the Peugeot 208GTI. 208bhp, super light, and a nice daily with a lovely interior. We’ve had 2 and both been great with zero issues and 40mpg. Makes sure it’s the facelifted model as the engine is better with more torque and better reliability.

I got my first one while on my R plates and my wife got hers 3 months after passing her test and the insurance was reasonable (cheaper than a 70bhp corsa).

The Fiesta ST is sharper to drive but also a bit harsher to daily and higher on insurance as they are targeted more for theft.

Alternatively the Fiesta Zetec S black or red edition fiestas with the 1L 140bhp engine are riots to drive and highly recommend.

As a side note for some reason, I keep finding myself looking at NB mx5's and SW20 (MK2) MR2's.

The swift is the more sensible and daily able choice and since I only have the room for one car is the stand-out choice, but if someone told me either of the above could be used daily whistle.

if youre looking for something practice, little left field, more power than the swift and decent on insurance.
Try a Kia Proceed GT. Many comforts, sport seats, 200hp and carthrottle did a video on the car and liked it. Kia 7 year warranty so most of its life it will have been looked after and sporty looks:

Bit of haggling and searching and you should find one in budget. Before the used car hike, they are under 5k.
