What is your view and why?

Ok, my wife’s MX5 is begaining to give up. She still wants a convertible but not sure what to get. She only drives a few miles to work and back and a few outings in the evening. So I want to keep away from a second modern car as mine is costing a small fortune on replacing the eco crap forced on it. I have looked at a few Porsche 997.2,s , a Nissan 370Z and a replacement mx5. I liked how the Porsche held the road, but the downside is that most that I have seen have a left me with a feeling that they have been driven to death on track days. The Nissan is the cheapest of the lot, but no power steering making it a pain for her to park. A second mx5 maybe with the 200 bop upgrade may fit the bill, but I am finding it harder to get in and out of it and it’s very small once in with my head hitting the soft top. So an old Porsche, and who sales good ones with a. Worth while warranty, a Nissan 370Z which is the cheapest or can anyone thing of anything else that is interesting, not a bmw or Mercedes done that,not again. Thanks

I wouldn't waste money on a performance car if she is a useless driver, she won't appreciate anything about it, spend as little as possible and spend the rest on a car for yourself. That's what a true PH'er would do.Is the marriage solid
I can assure you that Nissan never made a 370Z without power steering. Not even the hardest-core stripped-out Nismo track edition.
It's possible that the belt that drives the power steering pump from the engine had broken on the example you tried - I had that happen on an old Pug once, and the steering was certainly heavy as a result! Or some 'enthusiast' owner may have deliberately removed the PAS 'for better steering feel'.
The 370Z is definitely a good option in terms of avoiding more recent anti-pollution features but still being reliable, and being (much) more spacious in the cabin than an MX-5.
On the Porsche front, if you're looking at 997.2s I would imagine most of the soft-tops won't have been tracked, those must be a minority. I believe 911Virgin are recommended as a dealer who sell good cars and stand behind them, no personal experience tho.
Audi TT could be another option, unless your preclusion of BMW and Mercedes extends to all German prestige brands.
