Volvo XC60 & current market demands, thinking of buying it

Just been reading the 2nd hand market crash thread. interesting stuff. On one hand if interest rates rise & people have less money then they wont be buying cars so prices drop. Lack of new cars pushes up 2nd hand prices. They contradict each other really.

The link above is a motor I am interested in purchasing but the dealer told me they they wont take less than £17k as the market is soo strong.

As someone that's not been to a garage to purchase a car since 2009, anyone want to comment on negotiating on the price for this motor & where I would start. I guess if they wont budge much on the price then I have to decided if I want it at £17k

Dealers will know how much they are willing to let a particular vehicle go for. If they decline dropping the price maybe see if they’ll include any services or extended warranty.

On Friday it will have been for sale for 3 weeks. Also, someone bought it back in June, done 1300 miles since and have now sold it. Just some info for ya.

Thanks, yes I had noticed that vehicle although its now showing as reserved.
The one I am interested in is my local dealer just a few miles away and its in very good condition. I couldnt find a mark or scratch on it.
I wonder why it was bought & sold so recently. How did you find that out??

totalcarcheck.co.uk, input the regi plate and scroll to the bottom. You can see previous selling prices (good to also see when it first went for sale)
Also not the most recent V5C date, you can tie both together to work out when it was last bought / sold.

Well, that was my initial impression, but their might be a genuine story behind it.

I'd look at an SE lux rather than SE personally. The analogue dials look awful.

I'd go for one with driver support pack if poss to get adaptive cruise control and blis etc. Something like this one https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202210050...

Only 13K although private sake which may put some off.

Oh it's an AWD so will be the older 5 pot engine which some may prefer tbh.

That does look incredibly dreary, looks like spec is key with those Volvo's.

Within reason I wouldn't be put off traveling a fair distance for a car like that. It's always a bit of a risk but I bought my current car that way. Dealer was happy to send a bespoke walk round video it all seemed to check out. Deposit over phone, train down, nice journey back in my new car.

It can make for a great day out

Its in great condition and very comfy but agree, no reversing camera no front parking assist.Small sat nav screen, manual speedo. Not much tech at all.

Only the 2nd one has it there, Auto trader keywords can be a pain. Give away is the cruise buttons on the steering wheels, without adaptive they are just the plus and minus, with adaptive they are double ended arrows.

Also the bottom row of buttons on the centre console has lane keep assist one etc.

The best keyword I found for finding them was blis as that won't be mistaken for random occurences of support etc, unfortunately though not all sellers list blis so often a case of going in and checking the pic.

Do you need AWD?

The 5 cylinder cars will cost more to run but I liked the 5 cylinder unit. So long as the belts are replaced on time they're pretty robust.

Personally the Watford car appeals most to me.
