Rusty brake lines, guessing it has to be a German car of some sort, I am going to go for a Mercedes?
Good guess - correct.Car is 10 years old but only done 50k miles. I'm guessing the brake lines are just treated as a consumable so will be excluded in any warranty. What really grates is things which were flagged on an MOT, one of which was a "fix ASAP", a year ago have gone through a main dealer safety/health check 5 months ago.

I really struggle to understand how Mercedes are incapable of making brake lines on a £30/£40/£50K car that don't even last 10 years. I have looked at lots of W204 C Class on eBay and when you check the MOT history it is not unusual to see advisories for rusty brake lines and rear subframes at 8 or 9 years old.Car is 10 years old but only done 50k miles. The brake lines on my 16 year old Renault are perfect, yet Mercedes are incapable of doing this.
