Gap insurance recommendations / what to check for

Apologies if wrong section please move if needed.

I’m buying an approved used Audi for circa £30k and want to buy return to invoice gap insurance , at least this seems most sensible.

I have never bought it before but did a compare the market which suggested Audi want way too much . The car is a 2017 67.

Best quote was £190 for RTI for 3 years. “Motor Easy” with £1000 excess cover.

Is there anything I should be seeking out for this cover as I I’ve never even looked into it before.

I got mine through ALA as they advertise on here and had lots of happy customers. Never got to use it but I think it cost approx £300 in 2017 for 5 years cover of approx £30k RTI.

I couldn't see anything about exclusions for theft without keys in the policy documentation - it seemed to be something other companies bragged about. Assume it must be covered if they don't exclude it.

Rememeber to call them for a refund if (like me) you change your cars frequently. Recently moved one of my cars on and my friend said, "you've only had that a few months, dont forget to get a refund on your GAP insurance" and all of a sudden I had that sinking feeling remembering all the cars that I have forgotten to get a refund on..... with the excitement of a new car I guess I just didnt even think about it!

Phoned them up, got £599 back.

I've not mentioned to the wife about the refund, and I am definitely not brave enough to mention all the ones I forgot to get my money back on.

Ha I just read that - definitely intend to hold onto it for the duration of the gap policy and hopefully beyond that but you never know!
