There are two threads running debating the future of used car prices with many predicting an "accelerated downward trend" so I thought we ought to have a separate thread where buyers of these bargains can post up their conquests. Lets see how quickly we see the evidence!

An absolutely fabulous car, whose asking price has come down by £22,000 since summer:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202206257...

First advertised for £117k in June, reduced last week from £105k to £95k.

(no, I haven't bought it, just waiting to get my garage entrance widened first)

Hmm not many posts yet apart from an absurdly priced super car.

Where are the sub 20k bargains??

Patience required my guess is it’ll be 6 months before things get tasty.

What does that even mean? What exactly are you looking for?

I’ve seen a couple of 50-55k cars in my watch list drop 3k just tonight. They have been sat unsold for 3-5 months now.

Are you playing silly buggers expecting the drop to be sudden?

£40k for a 997 Turbo looks like a bit of a bargain.

yes

I'm hopeful of nabbing a bargain in 9-12 months.

It's not like that. I've got a home renovation project on the go and need to keep my new toy money ready just in case.

Besides I won't have a garage until its finished.

Well, I’m hoping to see evidence of genuine bargains amongst normal, everyday cars which can be bought by people who live in the real world. Sorry but discounts on a McLaren or Porsche as we move into the winter months prove nothing to me.

If we can expect to wait a year then isn’t this thread a bit premature?

I plan to buy in 2023 and as a cash buyer would very much welcome a drop in prices. I’m hopeful that things may settle down a bit but ‘bargains’ are a bit of a stretch. The last two bargain cars I bought are sat on my drive. Ex demo family car in 2016 for 10k. 3 year old class leading hot hatch in 2020 for 9k. We won’t see the likes again.

I’ll watch this thread with interest but I think it’ll be a slow burner.

Perhaps you should ignore this thread then and start your own one in a year's time for sub-£20k cars?

There's always bargains about - the quantity of them will only increase in the coming months.
